In this role, you will be a key player in the development of backend systems for a rewards platform that integrates with various partner brands. Your work will primarily involve using Node.js and TypeScript to create features that enable users to earn rewards through their shopping activities. This position emphasizes the importance of transactional logic, real-time tracking, and user notifications, making it essential for you to have a solid understanding of these concepts.

What you'll do

• Design and implement backend services tailored for a rewards platform, focusing on transaction processing and updates regarding reward statuses.
• Collaborate with partner systems and conduct tests in a sandbox environment to ensure seamless integration.
• Manage the lifecycle of purchases and rewards, addressing various states such as pending, approved, and refunded.
• Calculate reward values based on commission data, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
• Develop systems for real-time transaction tracking, reward status management, and user notifications to enhance user experience.
• Create and maintain APIs and business logic using Node.js and TypeScript, ensuring robust functionality.
• Occasionally assist in the development of user interfaces for rewards using React Native, contributing to a cohesive user experience.
• Engage in full-stack development tasks for the Next.js Business Portal, enhancing the overall platform.
• Design systems capable of handling reconciliation and idempotent processing of financial data, ensuring integrity in transactions.
• Work autonomously to identify challenges and deliver effective solutions in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Architect comprehensive product solutions rather than merely completing assigned tasks, showcasing your initiative and creativity.
• Support regular deployments, aiming for cycles of one to two days while maintaining accuracy in financial transactions.

Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in backend API development and business logic, specifically using TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.
• At least 4 years of experience with API integrations, including REST APIs, Webhooks, and asynchronous processing methodologies.
• Over 5 years of experience applying architectural principles that ensure scalability, reconciliation, and idempotency, particularly with financial or transactional data.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience supporting frontend or mobile applications, particularly with React Native.
• At least 3 years of experience with SQL databases, such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, demonstrating strong database management skills.
• More than 3 years of experience in designing or developing microservices architectures.
• 1-2 years of experience with Next.js for full-stack development; equivalent experience with React may be considered.
• Over 2 years of experience with automated testing frameworks, such as Jest or JUnit, ensuring code quality and reliability.
• At least 3 years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment, utilizing tools like Docker, GitHub Actions, and GCP Cloud Build, or similar AWS tools.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience with Firebase or in-memory databases like Redis.
• Senior-level engineering expertise, with a total of at least 6 years of professional experience.
• Proven ability to work independently and adapt to a startup environment with limited formal processes.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly when managing financial and transactional data.
• Capability to architect solutions and take full ownership of product features.
• Ability to balance rapid delivery with the precision necessary for transactional systems.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with the fintech sector, card networks, and card-linked offers.
• Knowledge of major card networks, such as Mastercard and Visa.
• Understanding of reward programs associated with leading retail brands.
• Experience with BigQuery and analytics tools like Looker.
• Familiarity with other cloud analytics platforms.
• Experience using GraphQL, although REST is the primary API style.

• Work Schedule: 11:30 AM - 9:00 PM PKT (Summer) | 12:30 PM - 10:00 PM PKT (Winter)
