Key facts
What you'll do
You color grade footage in DaVinci Resolve to a clean, cinematic standard that aligns with the team's visual language. You collaborate on creative direction and introduce original ideas, shaping the film beyond brief execution to strengthen the final narrative impact.
Requirements
You present a strong portfolio of larger, high-quality projects that demonstrate range across long-form and narrative work, not only social edits. You show real editing talent with excellent instincts for pacing, story, and audio to guide viewers through complex financial topics. You have experience in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve and are willing to edit in DaVinci Resolve as the team standardizes on it for color and collaboration. You can advance a project from raw footage to finished cut with minimal hand-holding, managing timelines and feedback independently. You are comfortable being a shooter as well as an editor, a strong plus that supports the hybrid demands of the role.
Nice to have
You bring hands-on experience shooting with Sony FX3 to match the production expectations of the workflow. You apply color grading in S-Log3 / S-Gamut3.Cine inside DaVinci Resolve to maintain consistent image quality. You contribute motion graphics and animation chops that enhance storytelling without becoming a core requirement. You use 3D ability in Blender for custom renders, which can differentiate the content but is not essential.
Practical notes
Role is based in San Francisco with a preference for in-person collaboration on shoot days. Remote work is possible for an exceptional candidate who meets the standards. Typical interview steps
Marketing interviews often include a portfolio review, a campaign exercise, and analytics questions. Candidates may be asked to plan a launch, write a brief, or improve a funnel. Some loops include a presentation. Results from past campaigns carry the most weight. Interviewers ask about specific campaigns you ran and what the numbers said. Preparing a short case of one campaign with its results is strong preparation.
Good to know
Video editing in this role centers on long-form narrative work for marketing and brand storytelling. Common tools include DaVinci Resolve for color and Premiere Pro for editorial workflows. Motion graphics and 3D rendering can expand the range of content the team produces.
Questions to ask
Good questions to ask the employer in the interview: what does success look like in the first six months, how is the team structured, what is the current biggest challenge, and how are decisions made. Asking about growth paths and the review process is also well received. Employers expect questions, and good ones show preparation.
