About the role
You will own the end-to-end visual narrative for WaitWhat's signature video content, shaping raw footage into polished stories that resonate across multiple platforms and audiences. In this position, you are responsible for translating complex business ideas into compelling, accessible video experiences that maintain the integrity of each property while meeting strategic marketing goals. You will serve as the primary editor for long-form podcast episodes, short-form social clips, sizzle reels, and live event visuals, ensuring every cut aligns with the brand's high standards. This role demands a strategic thinker who can balance creative vision with tight deadlines, working autonomously while actively contributing to collaborative discussions with content, marketing, production, live events, and design teams. You will interpret editorial guidelines and brand voice with precision, applying your own creative solutions to enhance storytelling without compromising clarity or message. What you'll do
Edit long-form podcast episodes into concise, high-impact video narratives that preserve the depth of conversation while optimizing for viewer retention.
Create dynamic short-form social clips that highlight key insights, memorable quotes, and visual moments tailored for platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and X.
Produce sizzle reels and promotional videos that amplify event coverage, speaker highlights, and partnership announcements with energetic pacing and clear messaging.
Collaborate with the content team to identify core themes and story arcs, ensuring each video project supports the broader editorial direction and business objectives.
Work alongside the production team to review raw footage, select optimal angles, and suggest additional shoot requirements or B-roll opportunities that strengthen the final edit.
Coordinate with the live events team to integrate event visuals, audience moments, and on-stage footage into cohesive recap videos that extend the life of each gathering.
Partner with designers to incorporate motion graphics, lower thirds, and branded visual elements seamlessly into your edits, maintaining visual consistency across all properties.
Refine audio quality and pacing in collaboration with audio engineers, balancing music, sound design, and voiceover to create polished, professional video outputs.
Anticipate platform-specific requirements by adjusting aspect ratios, durations, and pacing to ensure each video version performs effectively in its intended environment.
Contribute to the development of repeatable editing templates and workflows that improve team efficiency, reduce turnaround time, and support scalable content production.
Provide constructive feedback to producers and creators during pre-production and post-production discussions to elevate the overall quality of video content.
Maintain a detailed inventory of project files, versions, and assets to ensure organized workflows and quick retrieval of materials for future campaigns.
Stay current with evolving content trends and video formats across social and streaming platforms, proposing ideas that align with WaitWhat's innovative approach to media.
Act as a visual storyteller partner for marketing campaigns, helping to craft video narratives that support lead generation, audience growth, and brand awareness.
Review performance data on published videos and apply insights to refine future edits, improving watch time, engagement, and clarity of message over time.
Requirements
You possess a bachelor's degree in film, video production, journalism, communications, or a related field that provides a foundational understanding of visual storytelling principles.
You have a minimum of three years of professional video editing experience, with a demonstrated portfolio that includes long-form video, short-form social clips, and promotional content.
You are highly proficient with industry-standard editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and related tools used in professional video workflows.
You bring a strong understanding of audio editing principles, including noise reduction, leveling, and the strategic use of music and sound effects to enhance narrative impact.
You have experience working with diverse content formats, including podcast video adaptations, live event coverage, and multi-platform social campaigns.
You show a keen eye for composition, pacing, and narrative flow, with the ability to transform raw footage into engaging, coherent stories that respect the source material.
You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where multiple projects require simultaneous attention without sacrificing quality.
You have a solid grasp of file management, version control, and backup strategies to ensure that all project assets are secure, organized, and easily retrievable.
You are legally authorized to work in the United States and do not require sponsorship for this role at this time.
Nice to have
Experience with motion graphics software such as After Effects is beneficial for creating on-screen elements and animated transitions.

Practical notes
