Key facts
What you'll do
- Take ownership of Slash's engineering blog from start to finish, including understanding new projects, collaborating with engineers to gather insights, and publishing well-crafted posts that accurately represent the work
- Convert engineers' and founders' ideas, technical updates, and project summaries into polished blog articles, technical deep dives, launch announcements, and social media content, ensuring the tone remains authentic to their voice
- Make it easy for engineering teams to share their work by transforming their initial drafts or ideas into high-quality, publishable content that is clear, engaging, and technically accurate
- Develop and implement strategies for social media amplification, focusing on highlighting significant engineering achievements and updates rather than posting for volume alone
- Embed with the engineering team to stay closely aligned with ongoing projects, proactively identifying stories, innovations, or technical insights worth sharing with the broader community
- Work directly with engineering, product, and design teams to verify the technical correctness of all published content, ensuring it accurately reflects the underlying systems and architectures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to craft content that balances technical depth with accessibility, making complex topics understandable for a diverse audience
- Maintain a consistent publishing schedule, ensuring timely delivery of content that supports company goals and marketing efforts
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in technical communication, continuously improving the quality and impact of the content produced
- Support the development of internal documentation and knowledge sharing initiatives as needed, contributing to the overall technical literacy of the organization
- Act as a bridge between technical teams and external audiences, translating complex technical work into compelling narratives that demonstrate Slash's expertise and innovation
- Foster a culture of storytelling within the engineering organization, encouraging engineers to share their work and insights through various channels
Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of technical work, with experience in engineering, computer science, or serious technical writing
- Proven ability to translate complex technical ideas, systems, and tradeoffs into clear, engaging, and accurate written content
- Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to craft content that is concise, compelling, and respectful of the reader's intelligence
- Experience writing technical blog posts, documentation, newsletters, or social media content that has been shared widely among engineers or technical audiences
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with engineers, product managers, and designers, ensuring content accuracy and alignment with technical realities
- Ability to work independently, proactively seeking out stories and content opportunities without waiting for direction
- Attention to detail to ensure technical correctness, consistency, and high-quality output in all published materials
- Familiarity with software systems, infrastructure, architecture, and technical tradeoffs, enabling authentic and accurate storytelling
- Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with content management systems or publishing platforms is a plus
