100% Breast Imaging Hybrid Radiologist
Job description
About the role
The Remote Radiologist position at Simonmed represents a sophisticated integration of teleradiology expertise and specialized breast imaging knowledge, designed to deliver critical diagnostic services across a distributed network. In this capacity, you will operate from a remote location, leveraging cutting-edge digital platforms to interpret complex imaging studies with the same rigor as an onsite presence. This role is fundamental to supporting nationwide diagnostic needs, ensuring that referring clinicians receive timely, accurate, and actionable reports that directly enhance patient outcomes and safety. You will own the full interpretive workflow for breast imaging cases, from initial order verification through to the final signed report, maintaining strict adherence to regulatory and quality standards without direct on-site supervision. The position demands a high degree of professional autonomy, requiring you to exercise expert judgment in managing ambiguous findings and communicating effectively with a virtual team. It is a pivotal role in modernizing radiological delivery, utilizing technology to bridge geographic gaps and provide essential medical expertise where it is needed most. By focusing exclusively on breast imaging in a teleradiology format, this role ensures deep specialization and consistency in diagnostic accuracy for the patients served by Simonmed.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Execute comprehensive interpretations of breast imaging examinations, including digital mammography, ultrasound, and MRI, to identify and characterize relevant pathologies with precision.
- Establish a systematic methodology for evaluating each study, applying evidence-based protocols to ensure consistency and reliability in diagnostic reporting across all cases.
- Perform detailed comparative analyses by cross-referencing current imaging findings against prior studies to assess for interval changes, stability, or signs of disease progression.
- Synthesize complex radiological data into clear, structured, and clinically precise reports that effectively communicate diagnostic impressions, differential considerations, and appropriate management recommendations.
- Assume full responsibility for the quality and accuracy of remote interpretations, proactively identifying potential discrepancies or technical artifacts that may require repeat imaging or further review.
- Collaborate virtually with onsite medical physicists, technologists, and referring physicians to resolve ambiguities, clarify clinical history, and ensure optimal patient care pathways are followed.
- Implement continuous quality improvement initiatives by meticulously documenting challenging cases, tracking interpretive variances, and contributing insights that refine departmental protocols and best practices.
- Uphold strict adherence to accreditation standards, regulatory compliance, and facility policies, ensuring that all documentation meets legal and ethical requirements for teleradiology practice.
- Mentor and support distributed imaging teams by sharing expertise, providing feedback on complex cases, and fostering a culture of diagnostic excellence through virtual collaboration.
- Maintain a high level of vigilance for critical findings, ensuring timely communication of urgent results to facilitate rapid intervention and optimal patient outcomes in all breast imaging modalities.
Requirements
Candidates must hold active, unrestricted medical licensure in the jurisdictions where professional services are rendered, with current board certification in radiology from an approved governing body. You must possess a minimum of 3-5 years of dedicated experience in breast imaging within a teleradiology or similar remote diagnostic environment, demonstrating consistent proficiency in this subspecialty. Exceptional written communication skills are an absolute requirement, as you will be responsible for producing reports that are not only diagnostically accurate but also clear, concise, and clinically useful for a diverse range of practitioners. A meticulous approach to detail is essential, enabling you to identify subtle or ambiguous findings that may have significant implications for patient management. You must be highly proficient in utilizing teleradiology workstations and secure communication platforms to perform interpretations and transmit results efficiently in a virtual setting. The ability to work independently with a high degree of self-motivation is expected, as you will manage substantial caseloads while maintaining strict compliance with established protocols and quality benchmarks. Reliability, timeliness, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of diagnostic integrity are non-negotiable attributes for this role.
Nice to have
Demonstrated expertise in digital mammography, ultrasound, and breast MRI interpretation is strongly preferred, as this specialized knowledge enhances the comprehensiveness and accuracy of your diagnostic assessments. Familiarity with these advanced modalities allows for a more nuanced understanding of breast pathologies and ensures that you can address the full spectrum of imaging requests with confidence. This specialization is particularly valuable in a hybrid role, where the integration of multiple imaging findings may be required to reach a definitive conclusion. Experience with structured reporting tools and decision support systems is also advantageous, as it can streamline workflow efficiency and improve the overall clarity of your documentation. A proven track record of participation in quality assurance programs or research initiatives within radiology further strengthens your candidacy, indicating a commitment to ongoing learning and improvement in the field of teleradiology.
