About the role
The AR Credit & Collections Specialist plays a vital role in managing customer payment applications and ensuring the accuracy of accounts receivable processes. This intermediate-level position requires a thorough understanding of the entire accounts receivable cycle, focusing on cash payments made by customers in relation to their contracts. The specialist will engage with both internal teams and external clients to maintain effective communication and resolve any discrepancies.

What you'll do
- Conduct daily outreach to customers and sales representatives to facilitate timely collections.
- Manage a consistent flow of inbound and outbound calls related to collections for your designated portfolio, as well as from the collection queue.
- Liaise with senior management at both the customer and internal levels to address any critical issues.
- Reconcile activities for a significant territory of accounts, which may include National Accounts and other high-profile clients.
- Collaborate with customers, Sales Representatives, and Sales Managers to identify potential problem accounts and notify relevant personnel of any blocked orders or reconciliation challenges.
- Generate and analyze various reports, including aging reports and unapplied cash reports, to ensure resolution for your assigned territory.
- Provide regular updates to management regarding account statuses and any issues encountered during the collection process.
- Perform daily reconciliations on accounts to uphold the accuracy of accounts receivable, including managing offsets and processing write-off requests.
- Assess and manage credit risk by assigning appropriate credit limits and maintaining oversight of credit exposure on accounts.
- Review financial statements and credit reports to determine suitable credit limits in accordance with established guidelines.
Requirements
- A minimum of three years of experience in commercial credit and collections, particularly with high-volume and high-profile accounts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic functions and formatting capabilities.
- Familiarity with ERP software, preferably Dynamics AX or Great Plains.
- Ability to interpret D&B reports and analyze financial statements effectively.
- Strong detail orientation and analytical skills to manage complex accounts.
- Excellent time management abilities, with a focus on achieving results under pressure.
- A collaborative mindset, demonstrating the ability to work well within a team environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in the manufacturing or industrial packaging sector.
- Knowledge of cash application processes and credit management.
- Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
- Previous experience in a role that required high levels of customer interaction.
Skills & tools

Practical notes
- The hourly wage for this position ranges from $25.00 to $27.00, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
