About the role
The Sigma Commercial Solutions Engineer is a vital member of the team responsible for helping organizations unlock the full potential of analytics to improve business agility and generate valuable insights. This role involves working closely with multiple teams, including Sales, Business Development, Product Management, Customer Success, and Support, to serve as a trusted technical advisor for prospects and clients. The engineer will oversee the technical aspects of the presales process, which includes conducting engaging presentations, live demonstrations, and developing prototypes that showcase Sigma's platform capabilities. The position requires a strong technical background combined with excellent communication skills to effectively translate complex technical concepts into clear business value propositions. The Solutions Engineer will be instrumental in building customer confidence, supporting the sales cycle, and ensuring successful onboarding and adoption of Sigma's solutions.

What you'll do
- Conduct discovery sessions and workshops with potential and existing customers to understand their specific business challenges, data needs, and goals.
- Collaborate with business users and technical teams to design, develop, and present solution prototypes that demonstrate how Sigma's platform can address customer requirements.
- Prepare and deliver customized, compelling product demonstrations tailored to the unique needs of each client, including live demos at trade shows, webinars, and customer meetings.
- Clearly articulate the business benefits of Sigma's platform to stakeholders at all organizational levels, from technical teams to executive leadership, emphasizing ROI and strategic value.
- Respond to requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for information (RFIs) by providing detailed, accurate, and persuasive technical and product-related responses.
- Pursue and maintain relevant product, sales, and technology certifications to stay current with Sigma's evolving platform features and industry best practices.
- Share knowledge and collaborate with internal teams to improve the overall sales and technical support process, contributing to the continuous improvement of solutions and customer experience.
- Assist customers in understanding integration strategies, data migration processes, and best practices for developing their data lifecycle and analytics workflows with Sigma.
- Manage multiple customer projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and alignment with customer expectations.
- Meet or exceed quarterly and annual performance goals set by management, including metrics related to customer engagement, technical demonstrations, and sales support.
- Act as a product advocate, providing guidance, training, and technical expertise to prospects and customers, helping them maximize the value of Sigma's platform.
- Gather feedback from customers and prospects to inform product development and contribute to the enhancement of Sigma's platform features and usability.
- Support the sales team during technical qualification stages, helping to identify customer needs and align solutions accordingly.
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and webinars to promote Sigma's solutions and stay connected with industry trends.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Sigma's platform, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to effectively position Sigma's offerings.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or sales engineering roles, with a proven track record of supporting technical sales processes.
- Strong skills in managing customer relationships and understanding client needs to tailor solutions effectively.
- Solid understanding of database principles, data warehousing concepts, and data integration techniques.
- Familiarity with advanced spreadsheet functionalities and data manipulation tools.
- Experience working with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery, including understanding their architecture and integration points.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, startup environment.
- Experience in implementing business intelligence solutions, proof of concepts, or data analytics projects.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical, analytical, or related field, or equivalent professional experience in technical and business roles.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for customer meetings, industry events, or training sessions.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning.

- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance considerations, especially ITAR regulations.

Practical notes
The base salary for this role ranges from $110,000 to $135,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation may include variable components based on performance, stock options, and a comprehensive benefits package.
