Technical Writer (1yr Contract)
Job description
About the role
You will own the end-to-end creation of documentation and user-facing content that enables developers to successfully build with Sendbird's platform. You will partner with product teams to translate complex technical workflows into clear, step-by-step guidance that reduces friction and supports adoption. You will identify confusing UI patterns and propose content or design improvements that make the developer experience feel intuitive and reliable. You will actively use AI tools to accelerate drafting and iteration while applying your editorial judgment to ensure quality and consistency. You will collaborate across teams to gather requirements, clarify intent, and align content with product goals and developer needs. You will maintain content systems and feedback loops so that information stays current as features evolve and the product scales. You will champion clarity and empathy in every sentence so that developers feel supported rather than overwhelmed.
Key facts
What you'll do
Create and maintain high-quality documentation, user guides, and help content that explains Sendbird's products and APIs to developers.
Write UX copy such as button labels, error messages, onboarding flows, tooltips, and notifications that reduce friction and guide users through complex workflows.
Develop content that reflects how developers actually use the platform, using real scenarios and examples to make concepts easier to apply.
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and designers to gather requirements, clarify intent, and ensure content aligns with product strategy and user needs.
Use AI tools actively in your writing process to draft, restructure, summarize, and automate content while applying your own judgment to refine and verify every output.
Research competitor products, B2B trends, and developer community discussions to identify content gaps and keep our materials competitive and relevant.
Build an effective feedback loop by collecting input from users and stakeholders, then iterate on content to continuously improve clarity, completeness, and usability.
Identify confusing UI elements, unclear documentation, or broken flows and clearly articulate what is wrong and why it matters to the developer experience.
Stay current with best practices in technical communication, content design, and developer experience to apply new methods and standards over time.
Take ownership of content quality by spotting issues, flagging them early, and driving improvements without waiting for direction.
Ask questions proactively when context or constraints are unclear, and seek out resources, data, or second opinions to make informed decisions.
Maintain content structure and consistency across documentation, UI strings, and help resources so that information is predictable and easy to find.
Support the transition to an AI-first experience by writing content that helps users understand, trust, and effectively use AI-driven features and agents.
Contribute to internal guidelines and examples that help other teams write better content and maintain a high standard across the product.
Requirements

You are genuinely curious about AI and actively use AI tools to work faster and smarter, following Sendbird's guidance on responsible use.
You thrive in cross-functional collaboration and work well with product managers, engineers, and designers to achieve shared goals.
You take ownership of your work and do not wait to be told what needs fixing - you identify issues and drive improvements.
You are comfortable asking questions to seek context, resources, or clarification without hesitation.
You can break down complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and actionable content for developer audiences.
You care about details such as tone, structure, and consistency, and you apply editorial judgment to ensure high-quality outputs.
