About the role
You will lead the Guardian platform team, embedding security directly into the software development process to ensure it is a core property of code from its inception. This role focuses on integrating Semgrep's security analysis into AI agents, the MCP layer, and modern IDEs to protect the software supply chain. You will own the strategic direction and execution of the Guardian platform, balancing rapid innovation with long-term architectural stability. Your work will directly enable developers to build faster while maintaining a strong security posture. You will collaborate closely with product and design to define the roadmap for this critical platform. Success in this role means making security invisible yet indispensable to the developer workflow. You will foster a culture where creativity, calculated risk-taking, and individual accountability drive high performance.

What you'll do
- Collaborate with product and design teams to develop a platform roadmap, balancing new features with long-term strategic initiatives for the Guardian platform.
- Manage your team's priorities and schedule, addressing new technology development, internal and external user needs, and maintaining rigorous technical quality across all deliverables.
- Support engineers through regular coaching, mentorship, and feedback, conducting thoughtful performance evaluations that focus on growth and impact.
- Foster a team culture that encourages creativity, calculated risks, and individual accountability, ensuring psychological safety and ownership.
- Expand the team by recruiting diverse, high-performing technical talent who are aligned with Semgrep's mission and values.
- Design and define the architecture of platform components, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and secure by design.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex requirements into clear technical specifications and implementation plans.
- Drive the delivery of high-quality releases, iterating based on data and user feedback to continuously improve the platform experience.
- Integrate Semgrep's security analysis deeply into AI agents, the MCP layer, and IDE extensions to provide seamless developer protection.
- Build and maintain robust APIs and SDKs that meet the demands of security-conscious developers and platform teams.
Requirements
- 3 or more years of experience managing software engineering teams and delivering complex software products.
- Strong background in product development, including bringing products to market with cross-functional engineering teams in fast-paced environments.
- Understanding of best practices for design, iterative development, and incorporating customer feedback to drive product improvements.
- Familiarity with agile development principles and creating iterative milestones that adapt to evolving business needs.
- A strong interest in mentoring and developing engineers and other leaders to help them reach their full potential.
- Experience building robust platforms, APIs, or SDKs for demanding users, or working with developer tools, IDE/editor extensions, AI agent/MCP integrations, or security products.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguous situations and make informed decisions with incomplete data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with executives, engineers, and stakeholders at all levels.
