About the role
You will own the entire user experience strategy for a brand-new, unannounced mobile title currently in development at Second Dinner. You will define the visual and interactive language that shapes how players navigate and emotionally connect with this mysterious game. You will partner with a world-class creative team to ensure the interface feels intuitive, immersive, and instantly engaging from day one. You will champion a player-first mindset, translating abstract creative concepts into concrete, delightful, and accessible UI/UX solutions. You will foster a culture of experimentation within your team, encouraging bold ideas that push the boundaries of mobile interaction. You will be the primary voice for the player, advocating for their needs and balancing them with technical and design constraints. Ultimately, you will be responsible for delivering a UI/UX so polished and intuitive that it becomes a core part of the game's magic.

What you'll do
- Provide strategic leadership for the mobile game's UI/UX, ensuring every element aligns with the overarching creative vision and core player experience goals.
- Lead and mentor the UI/UX team, setting a high bar for craft, quality, and collaboration on this unannounced project.
- Partner deeply with game designers, artists, and engineers to weave UI/UX principles seamlessly into the core design and build process.
- Proactively identify and solve complex UX problems, often redesigning existing flows to create a more intuitive and enjoyable player journey.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design systems, documenting UI patterns, components, and interaction guidelines for consistency.
- Clearly articulate design decisions, rationale, and standards to ensure alignment and shared understanding across all disciplines.
- Build and utilize interactive prototypes and wireframes to rapidly test concepts, validate assumptions, and iterate on ideas.
- Leverage player feedback and quantitative data to continuously refine and optimize the UI/UX throughout the entire development lifecycle.
- Craft compelling motion design storyboards and prototypes to define delightful UI transitions and micro-interactions.
- Ensure the final UI not only functions flawlessly but also delivers a visually stunning and emotionally resonant aesthetic.
- Integrate UI assets and interactions directly into the game build, working hand-in-hand with engineering to ensure technical feasibility.
Requirements
- You have a proven track record of crafting intuitive and fun User Interfaces specifically for mobile games.
- You bring experience designing for genres like Match-3 or other deep-pocketed puzzle games that require clear player communication.
- You possess the ability to render high-fidelity, production-ready UI elements and art that adhere to strict technical specifications.
- You have a natural talent for rallying a team, getting people genuinely excited about your bold and innovative ideas.
- Your colleagues and stakeholders consistently describe you as someone who "has got this," demonstrating confidence and competence in your role.
- You are highly comfortable working directly within a game engine, understanding the technical constraints and opportunities it presents.

Nice to have
A background working on live-service games or titles with long-term player retention is strongly preferred.
Practical notes
This is a full-time remote role based in the United States with core overlap hours between 10AM and 4PM PT. We offer a competitive compensation package including a new hire base salary range of $220,000 - $260,000 USD, equity, and comprehensive benefits. The role is eligible for a home office improvement bonus and participation in company shutdowns for major holidays including the week of July 4th and the period between December 25th and January 1st. You must be legally authorized to work and reside in the United States. We do not sponsor visas or support employment outside the U.S. for this role.
