What you'll do
- Lead and mentor department heads across engineering, product, design, and production to ensure cohesive execution.
- Create and execute a multi-year franchise roadmap that aligns with overarching business objectives and market opportunities.
- Oversee the live operations calendar, production pipelines, and product development cycles to maintain consistent content delivery.
- Integrate AI tools into daily workflows to improve team productivity, streamline processes, and enhance game performance metrics.
- Provide coaching during product reviews to ensure that feature design decisions reinforce the game mission and player expectations.
- Manage the relationship with IP holders to ensure brand consistency across all marketing campaigns and in-game content implementations.
- Represent the franchise in executive meetings with leadership from Scopely and Scopely Explore to articulate vision and progress.
- Foster a collaborative team culture that prioritizes player-centric outcomes and encourages continuous learning and improvement.
- Analyze competitive landscapes and market data to identify gaps and opportunities for differentiation.
- Drive the implementation of best practices in live operations to optimize player retention and monetization balance.
- Coordinate cross-functional dependencies to remove blockers and maintain momentum on critical initiatives.
- Establish clear metrics and reporting structures to track the success of strategic investments over time.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and determine their applicability to the Monster Hunter Now ecosystem.
- Serve as the central point of contact for high-level discussions regarding the strategic health of the franchise.
Requirements
- 10+ years of leadership experience in free-to-play gaming, specifically in product, design, or production roles.
- Proven history of scaling mobile games post-launch through data-driven optimizations and content strategies.
- Demonstrated experience managing roadmaps and shipping features that directly impact key business performance indicators.
- Deep knowledge of content development and live operations for midcore titles, including player behavior and lifecycle management.
- Ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into strategic decision-making insights.
- Professional fluency in both English and Japanese is mandatory for effective communication and stakeholder management.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders across different time zones and cultural contexts.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Japan to ensure alignment with operational requirements and team presence.
- Strong understanding of regulatory environments and compliance considerations for games in the Japanese market.
