About the role
This role is designed for an experienced professional to oversee and manage the daily operational functions of Savvy's broker-dealer platform. You will be responsible for ensuring that all processes involved in trade setup, settlement, and post-trade activities are executed efficiently, accurately, and in strict compliance with regulatory standards. The position requires close collaboration with internal teams such as Legal, Compliance, Engineering, and Product, as well as external vendors, to develop and maintain scalable, reliable workflows that support Savvy's growth. You will play a critical role in building operational functions from scratch, implementing automation and AI tools to streamline reconciliation, exception detection, and error resolution, all while maintaining high standards of accuracy and regulatory adherence. This is an on-site role based in the NYC Office, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and is eager to contribute to a rapidly expanding fintech company.

What you'll do
- Develop, implement, and oversee the entire operational workflow for the brokerage lifecycle, from trade initiation to settlement, ensuring all activities are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during trade processing, post-trade reconciliation, and client account management, maintaining high standards of operational integrity.
- Design and establish a comprehensive system for monitoring post-trade activities, including exception management, error detection, and resolution workflows.
- Create and document procedures for investigating discrepancies, correcting errors, and maintaining accurate records and reconciliation reports.
- Develop processes for handling corporate action communications, including notifications, elections, and related documentation, ensuring timely and compliant responses.
- Implement quality control reviews and controls to meet all regulatory and internal compliance obligations, including audit readiness.
- Build workflows to support regulatory reporting requirements across different product types, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to regulators.
- Leverage AI tools and automation workflows to improve reconciliation processes, automate exception detection, and reduce manual intervention, increasing operational efficiency.
- Design and manage processes for reviewing, approving, and executing client money transfers, including international wire transfers, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Monitor account activity for unusual or suspicious behavior, implementing systems to flag and escalate potential issues promptly.
- Standardize deposit processing workflows, from receipt of funds to posting in client accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Improve onboarding procedures for new accounts, addressing and resolving setup exceptions to facilitate smooth client onboarding.
- Maintain and update account restrictions and limitations, ensuring data accuracy across all systems and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support the Legal & Compliance teams by preparing documentation and responding to FINRA and audit requests, ensuring full regulatory adherence.
- Prepare detailed reports on client complaints, resolution processes, and ongoing issues to inform management and improve operational procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to identify opportunities for automation and process improvements, integrating new tools and workflows as needed.
- Stay informed about industry best practices, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to continuously enhance operational processes.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to align operational strategies with company growth objectives and product development.
- Assist in scaling operational functions to support increased trading volume, ensuring systems and processes remain robust and compliant.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, or fintech startups, with a focus on operations or compliance.
- Demonstrated high attention to detail and ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, including building operational functions from the ground up.
- Strong process orientation with proven ability to create and implement standard operating procedures, controls, and workflows where none previously existed.
- Experience working closely with teams such as Investment Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Engineering to develop integrated solutions.
- Familiarity with AI and automation tools, with a focus on reducing manual reconciliation, exception detection, and error resolution tasks.
- Prior experience at a high-growth fintech or startup environment, or in establishing operational functions from scratch, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the trade lifecycle, including trade execution, clearing, settlement, and post-trade processes.
- Ability to analyze complex workflows and identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of preparing reports and collaborating across teams effectively.
- Experience with regulatory compliance, including FINRA, SEC, and other relevant standards, is a plus.
- Familiarity with AML procedures, wire transfers, and cashiering operations is advantageous.
Nice to have
- Previous experience working at an introducing broker-dealer or clearing firm such as Fidelity NFS, Pershing, or Apex.
- Knowledge of cashiering operations, including money movement approvals, wire approvals, and AML alert monitoring.
- Understanding of the full trade lifecycle, from order placement to settlement.
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements for FINRA and SEC.
- Certifications such as SIE, Series 4, or Series 53 are advantageous and may be beneficial for understanding compliance standards.
