We are looking for a senior engineer to lead the development of our user-facing interfaces while utilizing AI-assisted workflows to accelerate delivery. In this capacity, you will act as a foundational pillar in our engineering organization, ensuring that the presentation layer aligns with the strategic goals of our risk platform. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to transform complex requirements into intuitive and robust digital experiences. The position demands a proactive mindset capable of operating with minimal supervision in a rapidly evolving environment. You will be responsible for elevating the quality and performance of our frontend stack while contributing to the broader architectural vision. This role is critical in bridging the gap between intricate backend systems and seamless user interaction.

What you'll do
- Architect and implement production-grade user interfaces, ensuring accessibility, responsiveness, and high performance using React and TypeScript.
- Establish and enforce frontend coding standards, conducting detailed code reviews to mentor engineers and uphold code quality across the team.
- Leverage artificial intelligence coding assistants such as Claude to optimize development workflows, debug complex issues, and establish best practices for agentic tool integration.
- Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Go to ensure seamless data flow and support for frontend functionalities.
- Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to dissect requirements and translate them into coherent technical architectures and actionable roadmaps.
- Author comprehensive technical documentation that facilitates product adoption, onboarding, and knowledge retention within the engineering organization.
- Diagnose and resolve intricate production issues, applying systematic debugging methodologies to maintain system reliability and uptime.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging frontend libraries and tools to future-proof our technology stack and enhance developer experience.
- Coordinate with design teams to ensure pixel-perfect implementations and consistent adherence to brand guidelines across all user touchpoints.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from initial design and prototyping to deployment and post-launch monitoring.
- Optimize application speed and scalability through meticulous code refactoring and performance tuning strategies.
- Contribute to the security and compliance posture of the platform by implementing secure coding practices and validating user input mechanisms.
- Support the continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines to enable rapid and reliable software releases.
- Act as a technical leader during sprint planning and estimation sessions, providing accurate assessments and fostering realistic expectations.
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of 7 years of professional software engineering experience, with a demonstrated focus on frontend systems and user interface development.
- Exhibit advanced proficiency in React and TypeScript, with a strong emphasis on creating intuitive user experiences and optimizing application performance.
- Demonstrate proven ability to utilize AI coding assistants to augment personal productivity and output quality in a professional setting.
- Show evidence of leadership skills in technical decision-making, architecture design, and active mentorship of junior engineering staff.
- Have hands-on experience building and deploying frontend applications that handle scale and high traffic loads in production environments.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Go programming language, or possess the capability to rapidly learn the language to effectively contribute to backend tasks.
- Display the capacity to manage priorities independently and thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced, and constantly changing project requirements.
- Demonstrate professional fluency in the English language for both technical documentation and verbal communication during team collaboration.
- Hold eligibility to work in Canada and reside in the province of Ontario, in compliance with regional employment regulations.
- Have a history of contributing to open source projects or personal coding initiatives that showcase technical excellence and passion.
