About the role
You will deliver world-class business partnership to our Chief Marketing Officer and other executives across the Marketing department to inform strategic decisions and maintain accurate near-term and long-term financial operating plans. You will perform data-driven analysis to identify, evaluate and execute on value creation initiatives, investment opportunities and risk mitigation strategies that shape portfolio direction. You will partner with our Marketing, Sales and Engineering operations teams to plan and execute complex cross functional initiatives that move the business forward. You will build scalable processes and systems and utilize AI tools to enhance financial visibility, control and planning effectiveness to support durable growth over time. You will identify and track key internal and external metrics to guide operational impact and ensure alignment with corporate objectives. You will analyze financial results, prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting and lead monthly operating review meetings with VP and EVPs to drive clarity and execution. What you'll do
- Partner with our Chief Marketing Officer and senior leadership to shape strategic priorities and maintain financial oversight of marketing initiatives.
- Own the development, monitoring, and refinement of financial models and forecasts that guide marketing investment and resource allocation.
- Drive quantitative and qualitative analysis to surface insights, evaluate opportunities, and recommend optimal capital deployment strategies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, and Engineering operations to design and execute complex initiatives that scale efficiently.
- Architect and implement scalable financial processes and systems, leveraging AI tools to improve visibility, control, and decision-making speed.
- Define, track, and report on key internal and external metrics that demonstrate operational impact and business health.
- Consolidate financial results, prepare monthly and quarterly management reports, and lead data-driven discussions in operating reviews.
- Embed and reinforce Samsara's cultural principles in daily decision-making and long-term planning across global teams.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, inclusive finance and strategy team that delivers against ambitious goals.
- Translate business needs into actionable plans, aligning stakeholders and prioritizing work for maximum impact.
- Partner with Finance and Engineering teams to integrate data streams and ensure accuracy in reporting and forecasting.
- Support scenario planning and stress testing to evaluate trade-offs and guide resilient strategy.
- Champion experimentation and continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to test, learn, and scale successful approaches.
- Act as a trusted advisor to Marketing leadership, providing clear recommendations rooted in rigorous analysis and business context.
- Ensure governance and compliance in financial planning, risk management, and internal controls across marketing-related programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related quantitative field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in finance, strategy, or business operations, with a track record of delivering impact in fast-paced environments.
- 8+ years of experience partnering with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to drive strategic outcomes.
- Demonstrated expertise in building financial models, forecasting, and performing data-driven analysis to guide major decisions.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, synthesize complex information, and communicate insights clearly to senior leaders.
- Strong experience with financial planning, reporting, and analysis processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Hands-on experience with analytics tools and data platforms, including proficiency in spreadsheets and querying languages.
- Deep understanding of metrics, KPIs, and measurement frameworks to assess business performance and operational health.
- Experience working in or deeply understanding of the IoT, connected operations, or technology infrastructure sectors is highly relevant.
- Track record of mentoring and developing high-performing teams in a structured, results-oriented environment.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, driving decisions with limited precedent, and advocating for evidence-based strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex topics for diverse audiences.
- Commitment to building inclusive, high-trust teams and fostering collaboration across geographies and functions.
