About the role

You will own the end-to-end strategic sourcing and supply continuity for a portfolio of direct hardware materials that power Samsara's Connected Operations Cloud. You will run commercial negotiations, build dual-source strategies, and drive should-cost analysis and cost-down programs with a strong focus on profitability and risk mitigation. You will partner deeply with Engineering and Product on New Product Introduction to ensure supply targets are met ahead of production ramp. You will mentor analysts and supply managers while representing Samsara with strategic suppliers and contract manufacturers globally. You will help modernize procurement by shaping requirements for AI, deploying analytics, and coaching the team on tool adoption. You will report to the Head of Production Procurement and collaborate daily with Engineering, Product, Finance, and Planning to turn supply strategy into measurable business impact. This is a high-ownership role in a hyper-growth environment where your decisions directly support customers across North America, Europe, and beyond.

What you'll do

Lead strategic sourcing and total cost of ownership analysis for a portfolio of direct materials across the end-to-end product lifecycle at Samsara.

Run commercial negotiations and supplier relationship management to secure favorable terms, dual-source strategies, and resilient supply continuity plans with contract manufacturers.

Drive should-cost modeling and cost-down programs in collaboration with Engineering and Finance to achieve target cost, quality, and supply objectives ahead of ramp.

Partner with Engineering and Product on New Product Introduction to validate bill of materials, supplier feasibility, and ramp plans that align with cost, quality, and availability targets.

Develop and maintain category-specific playbooks, risk assessments, and supplier scorecards to monitor performance, compliance, and continuity.

Analyze market dynamics, raw material trends, and geopolitical factors to build scenario plans and adjust sourcing strategies proactively.

Leverage data and analytics to sharpen sourcing decisions, identify savings opportunities, and quantify trade-offs between cost, quality, and lead time.

Mentor and develop analysts and supply managers, fostering a culture of rigorous analysis, clear communication, and continuous improvement.

Represent Samsara with strategic suppliers and contract manufacturers globally, including regular engagement with partners in Asia and other key manufacturing regions.

Champion the adoption of AI and automation in procurement, defining requirements and deploying tools that enhance decision-making and team productivity.

Collaborate with Finance and Planning to align spend forecasts, inventory policies, and supply plans with business demand and growth objectives.

Translate business needs into clear procurement requirements, ensuring specifications balance performance, cost, and manufacturability across the product lifecycle.

Own key sourcing metrics and KPIs, driving transparency and accountability across the supply base to ensure timely execution and value realization.

Act as the primary point of contact for strategic supply initiatives, escalating cross-functional issues and coordinating resolutions across stakeholders.

Requirements

You have a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

You have 8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, or sourcing roles, with a track record of managing complex supplier relationships.

You have deep experience in direct materials sourcing for hardware-intensive environments, including familiarity with electronics, mechanical components, and manufacturing processes.

You have demonstrated success in running commercial negotiations, should-cost analysis, and cost-down programs that deliver measurable savings and margin improvement.

You have strong experience in supplier relationship management, dual-source strategies, and supply-continuity planning including risk assessment and mitigation.

You are fluent in data analysis and tools, with the ability to develop sourcing analytics, interpret spend data, and translate insights into actionable strategies.

You have worked with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, Finance, and Planning, aligning supply strategies with business objectives and product roadmaps.

You have experience engaging with suppliers and contract manufacturers in Asia, navigating cultural, logistical, and regulatory considerations effectively.

You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment, managing multiple priorities and making decisions with incomplete information.

You communicate clearly and persuasively, both in writing and verbally, tailoring your style to executives, technical teams, and external partners.

You are proactive in identifying risks and opportunities, building robust contingency plans, and escalating issues promptly to protect business outcomes.

You understand quality systems, compliance requirements, and documentation standards relevant to hardware supply chains.

You are comfortable using procurement platforms, ERP systems, and analytics tools to manage sourcing processes and supplier performance.

Nice to have

Experience with AI and automation tools in procurement, including prompt engineering and solution evaluation for sourcing workflows.

Background in IoT, connected operations, or industrial hardware ecosystems, with familiarity of video-based safety, vehicle telematics, and equipment monitoring use cases.
