About the role
The Senior Manager of Talent Management at Rothy's is responsible for architecting and executing the company's talent development strategy while stewarding critical engagement and performance management initiatives. This role owns the end-to-end design, implementation, and optimization of learning and development programs that serve a diverse workforce, from frontline retail teams to senior leadership. You will act as a strategic partner to the business, translating high-level objectives into tangible development experiences that drive capability and performance. The position requires fluency in both strategic planning and hands-on execution, ensuring that programs are not only well-designed but also effectively adopted and measured. You will lead the creation of practical, engaging content while also curating external solutions to meet the needs of a multifaceted employee population. Collaboration is central to the role, as you will work closely with People Business Partners and cross-functional leaders to embed talent initiatives into the fabric of the business. Ultimately, this role is about building a scalable, cohesive talent architecture that supports growth, retention, and a strong culture across all levels of the organization.

What you'll do
- Own and evolve Rothy's talent development strategy, aligning learning priorities with business objectives and the needs of a diverse, multi-location workforce.
- Design and deliver learning and development programs that span the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding for retail staff to leadership development for executives.
- Determine the optimal blend of buying versus building learning solutions, effectively curating vendor content while developing and facilitating original in-house programs.
- Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and leadership programming directly, ensuring content is engaging, accessible, and relevant to varied audiences.
- Manage Rothy's performance management processes end-to-end, including the design of cycles, selection of tools, implementation, and ongoing manager enablement.
- Partner with People Business Partners to ensure performance processes are fair, consistent, and tightly connected to business results and individual growth.
- Own the employee engagement strategy, including survey design, administration, analysis, and the development of action plans in partnership with business leaders.
- Identify engagement trends and recommend targeted interventions to improve retention, satisfaction, and team effectiveness across the organization.
- Regularly gather qualitative and quantitative feedback on existing talent programs from employees and managers to inform continuous improvement and innovation.
- Partner closely with colleagues across the People team to ensure talent programs are integrated, consistent, and reinforce the company's culture and values.
- Build strong relationships with business leaders to understand their unique needs and tailor talent solutions that drive measurable impact.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and content providers to ensure high-quality partnerships and effective delivery of services.
- Leverage technology and data, including AI tools, to design, scale, and improve the quality and efficiency of talent programs and learning content.
- Stay current on emerging tools, trends, and best practices in talent development, engagement, and performance management to bring innovative solutions to Rothy's.
Requirements
- Possess proven experience leading talent development, performance management, and/or employee engagement functions within complex organizations.
- Demonstrated success managing programs across both corporate and frontline or retail populations, showing adaptability to diverse audiences.
- Exhibit a self-starter mentality with the ability to work autonomously, prioritize effectively, and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.
- Show strong strategic thinking combined with a bias toward execution, moving comfortably from concept to rollout and iteration.
- Have experience navigating ambiguity and building structure, process, and clarity where none previously existed.
- Bring skill in both curating third-party and paid learning content and designing and facilitating original, in-person or virtual programs.
- Demonstrate the ability to create learning content and programs that are appropriate for widely varying audiences, from entry-level retail staff to senior executives.
- Possess excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills, with a track record of working effectively across teams and with external partners.
- Be comfortable using technology to enable learning, communication, and data-driven decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
- Have a strong understanding of adult learning principles and how to apply them to drive engagement and knowledge retention.
- Show experience with performance management systems and best practices for creating fair, transparent, and results-oriented processes.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clearly and persuasively to leaders at all levels.
- Have a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of detail and accuracy.

Practical notes
