About the role
You will serve as the primary technical point of contact for key content publishers, guiding them through the full application lifecycle from defining how their content and brand appear within the Roku ecosystem through development, certification, and post-launch support. You will partner closely with content publishers, third-party developers, and cross-functional teams within Roku, including Content Acquisition, Partner Growth, Payments, Advertising, Partner Initiatives, Product, and Engineering to facilitate onboarding and channel launches globally. In this role, you will leverage deep expertise in the Roku SDK, video streaming technologies, application performance, and security to enable partner success while coordinating closely with internal engineering and business development teams. You will represent Roku in regular partner meetings and advocate for partner needs across the organization, balancing technical problem-solving with clear communication and strategic prioritization to drive mutual business value. Analyze platform metrics and partner performance data to identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, and improved user experiences.
Support the design and execution of partner onboarding programs, documentation, and best practices to streamline global channel launches.
Drive continuous improvement by incorporating lessons from post-launch support, certification failures, and partner feedback into future development cycles.
Work with cross-functional teams to coordinate solutions that balance partner innovation with platform stability and compliance requirements.
Serve as a subject matter expert on Roku platform capabilities, limitations, and certification processes for both internal and external audiences.
Contribute to the development of technical proposals, business cases, and roadmap inputs that shape the future of the partner ecosystem.
Promote Roku's brand and platform vision in external forums, helping partners understand the value of building on the Roku ecosystem.
Requirements
You must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
You must have 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of designing, building, and maintaining complex software systems.
You must have deep experience with the Roku SDK, BrightScript, and SceneGraph development, including building and debugging channels for the Roku platform.
You must have extensive knowledge of video streaming technologies, including HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), adaptive bitrate streaming, and content delivery networks.
You must have strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, JavaScript, or Java, along with experience in RESTful API integration and consuming third-party services.
You must have demonstrated experience working with high-profile enterprise or media partners in a technical capacity, managing stakeholder expectations and delivering critical projects.
You must have a thorough understanding of application performance monitoring, debugging, and optimization techniques in distributed systems.
You must have experience ensuring applications meet security, privacy, and compliance requirements for global platforms and enterprise deployments.
You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile environment, balancing multiple priorities and making sound decisions with incomplete information.
Nice to have
Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerized deployment pipelines is preferred.
Familiarity with advertising technologies, measurement platforms, and data privacy regulations is a plus.
Background in product management or technical account management is beneficial.
Experience contributing to open source or developer advocacy programs is valued.
