We are currently looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to guide our Core Content Platform team. This position involves setting the technical direction and overseeing the implementation of a scalable, cloud-agnostic data abstraction layer. You will manage a distributed team of senior engineers focused on modernizing legacy services into a unified, next-generation data platform that incorporates machine learning and AI capabilities. This leadership role demands extensive expertise in distributed systems, real-time data pipelines, and the ability to scale organizations effectively.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Define the technical strategy and architectural roadmap for the data platform, ensuring the development of scalable and highly available systems that can operate across multiple cloud environments.
- Supervise the design and implementation of real-time streaming data pipelines and distributed data architectures, utilizing technologies such as Scala 3, Apache Flink, and distributed SQL databases like CockroachDB.
- Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing engineering team, promoting a culture of technical excellence among both US-based and international teams.
- Take responsibility for the reliability, performance, and management of technical debt within the data platform, ensuring consistent uptime and efficient service delivery to both internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, backend architecture, and the development of scalable, distributed data platforms.
- At least 7 years of direct experience in engineering management, with a proven ability to recruit, lead, and retain senior-level talent while managing distributed teams effectively.
- Extensive knowledge in constructing real-time data pipelines and large-scale data infrastructures.
- Strong skills in contemporary backend and data engineering languages and frameworks, such as Scala, Java, and Python, as well as experience with streaming technologies.
- Proven track record in overseeing large-scale architectural migrations and managing complex technical debt.
- Practical experience in developing or managing platforms driven by Generative AI, or integrating machine learning pipelines into core data services.
- Familiarity with cloud-agnostic architectures and experience managing multi-cloud or hybrid deployments.
- Background in digital media, content platforms, or large-scale consumer applications is highly desirable.
