About the role
This position is responsible for managing the financial planning and analysis specifically for inventory-related business functions across the organization. You will report directly to the Director of Strategic Finance while simultaneously supervising one dedicated analyst on the FP&A team. The role requires close collaboration with the C-suite suite of executives to influence overarching company strategy with data-driven recommendations. You will own the end-to-end process of tracking, evaluating, and reporting on key weekly business performance metrics. A core part of this position involves partnering deeply with inventory, procurement, and sales departments to uncover opportunities that boost profitability and optimize return on investment. The successful candidate will build and maintain sophisticated financial models designed to support new revenue streams and long-term procurement strategies. This role serves as a critical bridge between complex financial data and actionable insights presented to senior leadership for high-stakes decision-making. You will also be tasked with preparing the necessary documentation for board meetings and earnings calls related to inventory performance.

What you'll do
- Execute a thorough tracking, evaluation, and reporting framework for weekly business performance metrics specific to inventory operations.
- Establish strategic partnerships with inventory, procurement, and sales departments to collaboratively identify and implement initiatives that enhance profitability and return on investment.
- Architect and maintain intricate financial models that provide analysis and support for emerging revenue streams and complex procurement strategies.
- Synthesize complex financial data into clear, concise insights and communicate these findings effectively to senior leadership to guide critical business decisions.
- Oversee the end-to-end inventory budgeting process, which includes annual planning cycles and detailed monthly variance analysis to explain performance deviations.
- Develop multiple scenario-based financial models that explicitly link operational inputs to projected financial results, enabling what-if analysis.
- Conduct ongoing monitoring of market trends and competitor activity specifically within the inventory and rental space to inform strategic planning.
- Prepare high-level documentation, analyses, and presentations intended for board meetings and earnings calls, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Drive process improvements within the FP&A function related to inventory reporting, enhancing efficiency and accuracy of financial outputs.
- Liaise with cross-functional stakeholders to gather data, challenge assumptions, and validate the underlying drivers of inventory performance.
- Support the development of tools and dashboards that provide real-time visibility into inventory health and its financial impact.
- Analyze pricing strategies and their effect on inventory velocity, margin, and overall return on investment for the business.
- Contribute to special projects as needed, including ad-hoc analyses, special audits, and strategic initiatives requested by executive leadership.
- Ensure all financial planning activities are aligned with the broader company objectives and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or Economics from an accredited institution.
- Possess a minimum of 4 years of professional experience specifically within FP&A, private equity, investment banking, or equity research roles.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in financial modeling techniques and a high level of mastery with Excel, including complex formulas and data manipulation.
- Exhibit a proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and thrive in a rapid, entrepreneurial environment.
- Show strong ownership and accountability for delivering accurate and timely financial analysis and reports.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Have experience working with large data sets and the ability to draw actionable insights from them.
- Display strong problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset to ensure accuracy in all financial modeling and reporting.

- Experience with inventory management or retail operations is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with procurement and supply chain concepts is considered a significant advantage.
- Knowledge of the online rental or fashion marketplace industry is beneficial for context.
Practical notes
- Base salary range is $98,800 to $125,000, plus equity compensation.
