Principal Solutions Engineer, New Business
Job description
About the role
You are the top technical voice in new business for Redwood Software, owning the most complex and strategically significant deals in the pipeline. You architect great deals rather than merely executing them, shaping how Redwood shows up in the market and influencing product and go-to-market strategy from the field. You operate with minimal direction, make sound technical decisions under pressure with incomplete information, and generate a multiplier effect on the people around you. Your day-to-day involves owning end-to-end technical strategy on our largest opportunities, mentoring the broader SE team, and using AI as a standard tool to amplify productivity across every phase of the automation lifecycle.
Key facts
What you'll do
Drive strategic discovery and technical positioning for Redwood's most complex and high-value deals from initial hypothesis through to technical close.
Own the full SOAP surface area in depth, covering IT workload automation, data orchestration, workflow orchestration, citizen and self-service automation, and DevOps automation across multiple concurrent evaluations.
Architect and present AI-powered observability, intelligent job scheduling, agentic orchestration, and GenAI automation workflows at a technical authority level for CTO and principal architect audiences.
Mentor and multiply the capabilities of the broader Solutions Engineering team by coaching deal strategy, reviewing technical approaches, and creating reusable assets such as demo environments, POC templates, integration blueprints, and competitive intelligence.
Use and advance AI as a team-wide force multiplier by applying LLM-based tooling and prompt-driven workflows, and by shaping how Redwood positions AI-led automation in the market.
Build and maintain deep competitive intelligence by analyzing win/loss patterns and translating field insights into actionable input for Product, Marketing, and SE leadership.
Author enduring technical assets including demo scripts, integration blueprints, POC frameworks, and content that compounds value across the organization over time.
Uphold Redwood's standards of professionalism, technical honesty, and ethical representation of capabilities in every customer interaction and internal initiative.
Cover the full breadth of the SOAP market with fluency across orchestration, data movement, integration, and emerging autonomous agent use cases.
Act as the definitive technical authority during evaluations, translating complex business requirements into credible Redwood solution architectures.
Champion the SaaS-first automation fabric narrative, demonstrating how AI is embedded across the automation lifecycle to accelerate autonomous operations.
Collaborate closely with Customer Success and Product teams to close feedback loops and ensure field intelligence drives product and platform evolution.
Operate as part of a distributed team, aligning with Redwood's culture of transparency, ownership, and results regardless of geography.
Serve as the primary technical escalation path for strategic opportunities, removing roadblocks and enabling confident decision-making by stakeholders at all levels.
Requirements
You operate independently with minimal direction and are comfortable making high-impact technical decisions in ambiguous, high-pressure situations.
You possess deep expertise across the full SOAP landscape, including IT workload automation, data orchestration, workflow orchestration, citizen and self-service automation, and DevOps automation.
You have the ability to architect and communicate complex end-to-end solutions that span multiple use cases and technology domains simultaneously.
You demonstrate a high level of fluency in presenting AI-powered automation concepts to technical and executive audiences, including C-level and principal architects.
You apply and advance AI tools and methodologies as a standard practice, showing how emerging technologies can enhance automation delivery and business outcomes.
You have a proven track record of mentoring and elevating the capabilities of other technical professionals through coaching, review, and shared asset creation.
You maintain a strong sense of ownership for both customer success and the long-term strategic positioning of Redwood in the market.
You adhere to the highest standards of professionalism, technical integrity, and ethical representation of Redwood's capabilities and roadmap.
