The Commercial Operations Manager leads the day-to-day activities of the Commercial Operations team, ensuring operational excellence across supplier onboarding, logistics coordination, purchasing, compliance, and reporting. This role combines people management with hands-on operational work, serving as a key liaison between commercial, finance, logistics, and technology teams to deliver seamless recycling and materials operations. The ideal candidate is a strong people leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and enjoys building efficient systems that scale with the business. Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling - keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we are delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

What you'll do
Manage, coach, and develop a team of five Commercial Operations Specialists, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Oversee workload allocation, priorities, and performance metrics to ensure timely execution of daily operational tasks.
Establish team processes, SOPs, and training materials to drive consistency and efficiency across operations.
Partner with cross-functional leaders in Sales, Supply Chain, IT, and Finance to resolve bottlenecks and improve workflows.
Serve as an escalation point and subject matter expert for supplier onboarding, purchase order creation, logistics coordination, and payment resolution.
Coordinate inbound logistics and scheduling for inbound battery feedstock and outbound processed materials to meet commercial commitments.
Maintain and analyze key operational metrics and reports to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate with Finance and Controlling to manage commercial costs, payment processing, and accounts receivable/payable reconciliation.
Support the implementation and optimization of commercial technology tools and data systems to improve accuracy and visibility.
Act as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.
Drive adherence to regulatory, safety, and compliance requirements across commercial operations and documentation.
Lead cross-functional projects that enhance commercial processes, scalability, and system integration.
Communicate operational performance and key initiatives to senior leadership through clear, concise, and data-driven updates.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement by testing, learning, and scaling best practices across the commercial operations function.
Take ownership of end-to-end operational outcomes, balancing short-term execution with long-term process development.

Possess a high level of integrity, accountability, and discretion when handling sensitive commercial information.
Be comfortable working in a dynamic, rapidly evolving startup environment with shifting priorities.

Nice to have
Experience in battery recycling, critical minerals, or supply chain operations.
Background in SaaS, technology platforms, or data-driven decision-making.
Prior experience in a leadership role within a scaling startup or high-growth environment.
Practical notes
Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week).
Travel: Occasional travel may be required, not to exceed 10%.
