Senior Civil Engineer
Job description
About the role
Redwood Materials is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to serve as a senior individual contributor on our internal EPC Infrastructure Engineering team. In this role, you will independently deliver civil design and engineering across our battery manufacturing, recycling, and BESS infrastructure projects - managing work through all phases from planning and design through bid and construction. You will partner closely with internal multi-disciplinary teams and external consultants to produce coordinated, code-compliant designs that support Redwood's mission of building a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries and battery energy storage systems. You will manage multiple civil engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with aggressive project timelines and strict quality standards. You will independently develop high-quality civil engineering deliverables including construction documents, drawings, specifications, narratives, and calculations in conformance with IBC, ASCE 7, and local jurisdictional requirements. You will proactively communicate project needs, changes, schedule, and status to internal stakeholders and external team members to maintain clarity and alignment throughout project execution. You will review drawings and proposals by vendors, engineers, and architects, and drive multi-disciplinary coordination across structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and I&C disciplines to resolve design interfaces. You will perform constructability reviews, site inspections, and field checks to confirm adherence to design intent, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance during all project phases. You will manage external civil engineering consultants including scope of work, deliverables, and budget, and guide consultant designs through project completion to ensure successful project outcomes.
