About the role
The Material Flow Specialist is responsible for ensuring the effective movement of materials to support production needs, manage the receipt of raw materials, and prepare finished goods for shipment. This role emphasizes safety and operational excellence within the facility. You will champion a culture of proactive safety compliance, particularly concerning the operation and inspection of material handling equipment. The position requires diligent handling of battery materials in strict accordance with established safety protocols and procedures at all times. You will be tasked with the daily operation of various material handling equipment, including powered industrial trucks and other mechanical devices to ensure workflow continuity. Collaboration with supervisors will be essential to distribute tasks effectively and align team efforts with production goals. The role involves working across specific operational zones such as receiving, inventory control, or loading to maintain logistical balance. You will consistently pick and load inventory required for production areas while maintaining strict adherence to quality standards.

What you'll do
- Drive the implementation and adherence to a culture of safety compliance, focusing heavily on material handling equipment protocols.
- Execute safe handling procedures for battery materials, ensuring all activities follow established safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Skillfully operate material handling equipment, including powered industrial trucks, reach trucks, and other mechanical devices to facilitate movement.
- Provide direct support to the operations team in preparing, organizing, and staging materials for efficient production scheduling.
- Partner with supervisors to analyze and distribute tasks effectively, optimizing team productivity and resource allocation.
- Function within designated operational areas such as receiving, inventory control, or loading to ensure seamless material flow.
- Precisely pick, pack, and load inventory and materials required for production areas while maintaining accuracy and integrity.
- Accurately manage data and transactions utilizing a Warehouse Management System and generate detailed reports for management review.
- Lead the establishment and modeling of quality control processes to ensure standards are met or exceeded consistently.
- Perform a wide range of physical tasks as required by the operational environment, including pushing, pulling, gripping, twisting, and reaching.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area to support safety, productivity, and operational best practices.
- Oversee the internal flow of materials, coordinating activities to meet and exceed production demands.
- Conduct the receiving of inbound shipments, verifying raw materials, maintenance parts, and engineering equipment for accuracy and condition.
- Actively participate in physical inventory audits and cycle counts to uphold and maintain inventory accuracy and data integrity.
- Contribute innovative ideas towards the development and implementation of material flow strategies aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
- Proficiently operate PIT equipment, including reach trucks and forklifts, ensuring safe and effective material movement.
Requirements
- Demonstrate the ability to lift up to 50 lbs as necessary to perform the essential functions of the role.
- Maintain a proven safety track record in previous roles, showcasing a history of safe and responsible work practices.
- Bring prior experience in warehousing environments, which is preferred and highly valued for this position.
- Show a willingness to engage at all levels within the organization to foster collaboration and team success.
- Exhibit a strong command of the English language, both written and spoken, to ensure clear communication.
- Obtain Forklift and/or reach truck certification; candidates must be willing to obtain certification upon hire if not already held.
- Demonstrate a deep commitment to sustainability and a personal drive to improving the environment through responsible practices.
