Product Engineer
Job description
About the role
You own the end-to-end quality and user experience of features that power critical document workflows for AI teams. You are responsible for designing, building, and iterating on the core product suite that turns unstructured documents into structured, actionable data. You will act as the bridge between complex AI capabilities and intuitive user interactions, ensuring the platform feels seamless and powerful. You diagnose issues at the root cause and fix them with high ownership, refusing to pass the buck. You collaborate closely with founders and customers to translate feedback into tangible product improvements. You ship features rapidly while maintaining a high bar for reliability and performance. You continuously validate your work against real user data and refine based on evidence. Ultimately, you ensure that document processing feels simple, reliable, and magical for the end user.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect and implement core modules of Reducto Studio, including document viewers, extraction workflows, data visualization, and editing interfaces.
- Decompose complex document layouts into interactive, intuitive UI components that abstract away underlying complexity from the user.
- Prototype and iteratively deliver new capabilities such as form filling, translations, document editing, and document classification to meet evolving customer needs.
- Engineer responsive and real-time collaboration features that ensure seamless interaction across devices and user roles.
- Apply a quantitative mindset to product development, using debugging, experimentation, and data to drive fast and informed decisions.
- Work within the established design system and technology stack, leveraging Next.js, Tailwind, and Convex to ship features quickly without sacrificing quality.
- Explore and test novel interaction patterns to make AI-powered document processing feel intuitive and effortless for users.
- Partner directly with founders and enterprise customers to validate ideas, gather feedback, and shape the long-term product roadmap.
- Build internal tools and prototypes that accelerate development and reduce friction across the team.
- Ensure the user experience remains consistent and delightful as the platform scales in complexity and supported document types.
- Translate ambiguous product requirements into concrete technical specifications and work items.
- Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and best practices that uphold the engineering standards of the organization.
Requirements
- You subscribe to a philosophy of extreme ownership, where you are your own worst critic and never accept mediocrity in the output you ship.
- You possess strong product intuition and a deep understanding of what makes good user experiences, grounded in first principles thinking.
- You bring at least 2 years of hands-on experience building applications using modern frontend frameworks.
- You demonstrate exceptional proficiency in TypeScript and React, with a keen eye for design and user-centered product details.
- You have a track record of building your own tools to accelerate development, such as prototypes for testing interactions or component libraries for reuse.
- You approach problems with a quantitative mindset, using debugging, experimentation, and iteration to validate assumptions and improve outcomes.
- You are comfortable managing the full development lifecycle, from initial ideation and prototyping through implementation, testing, and production deployment.
- You thrive in a fast-paced, early-stage environment where autonomy, speed, and high standards are expected on a daily basis.
Nice to have
- Prior experience founding a company or building products at very early stages.
- Hands-on work with document viewers, PDF rendering, or complex data visualization interfaces.
- A strong drive to do exceptional work alongside exceptional people and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Awareness of the latest trends and developments in frontend engineering and design systems.
