Agent Experience Engineer
Job description
About the role
You will own how AI agents discover, integrate, and work with Reducto as the primary interface for document processing. You will shape the agentic surface of the platform by building the touchpoints that intelligent systems use to parse, understand, and act on enterprise documents. You will partner directly with the CTO to define strategy, make technical decisions, and ship features rapidly. You will ensure that Reducto feels native to agent workflows by crafting intuitive CLIs, MCP servers, and SDKs. You will instrument every integration to gather telemetry on how agents behave in production. You will reduce the cognitive load required for agents to adopt document workflows. You will act as the bridge between the agentic ecosystem and Reducto's document processing engine.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Own the agent-facing product surface by architecting and maintaining our CLI, MCP server, SDKs, and other integration points that make Reducto discoverable and usable by AI agents.
- Build deep integrations where agents operate, embedding Reducto into the platforms, frameworks, and toolchains that agentic developers rely on daily.
- Craft exceptional Python and TypeScript SDKs that feel natural to both humans and agents, with clear type signatures, predictable error handling, and documentation optimized for LLM context.
- Define and track agent adoption metrics, analyzing how agents discover Reducto, where they encounter friction, and which workflows drive the highest engagement.
- Reduce end-to-end integration friction by obsessing over the journey from first discovery to production usage, minimizing the steps between intent and completed document processing.
- Write high-quality documentation and build example projects that demonstrate real-world agentic workflows using Reducto.
- Design API surfaces that align with agentic tool-use protocols, MCP standards, and emerging sandboxing frameworks to ensure seamless interoperability.
- Stay on the forefront of agentic tooling by monitoring the evolution of agent frameworks and ensuring Reducto remains a first-class participant in every major ecosystem.
- Drive internal efficiency by applying LLMs and agentic workflows to automate Reducto's own operations, from internal tooling to cross-team workflows.
- Collaborate tightly with the CTO to prioritize initiatives that deliver the highest impact on agent adoption and developer velocity.
- Ship features quickly in a fast-moving environment, balancing experimentation with the reliability expected by enterprise AI teams.
- Represent the agent experience in cross-functional discussions, ensuring product, design, and infrastructure decisions support agentic workflows.
Requirements
- Hold yourself to a high bar for quality and precision in everything you build and measure.
- Enjoy solving complex problems and building solutions from first principles rather than relying on shortcuts.
- Possess 2+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript.
- Have a deep understanding of what makes developer tools excellent, gained from using both well-designed and poorly-designed APIs.
- Be deeply fluent in how AI agents work, including experience with agent frameworks, MCP servers, and LLM tool-use patterns.
- Thrive in fast-changing, high-growth startup environments where priorities evolve rapidly.
- Take full ownership of features from initial strategy through implementation, testing, and post-launch iteration.
- Communicate clearly and constructively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
Nice to have
- Have experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup where agility and impact are essential.
- Have built or maintained developer SDKs, CLIs, or API tooling that shipped to production.
- Be familiar with the AI agent ecosystem, including MCP, Claude Code, OpenAI Agents SDK, sandboxes, or similar frameworks.
- Have contributed to open-source developer tools that are used by other engineers.
- Care deeply about combining technical excellence with measurable product impact that moves business metrics.
Practical notes
This is an in-person role at our office in San Francisco. We are an early-stage company, which means the role requires working hard and moving quickly. Please only apply if that excites you.
