Director, Product Marketing
Job description
About the role
You will own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for new Proton capabilities, translating complex product value into clear positioning and compelling narratives for both internal and external audiences. You will sharpen our market differentiation in a crowded competitive landscape and ensure that every go-to-market motion is backed by a repeatable and scalable playbook. You will partner deeply with Sales, Product, and Customer Success to build the stories, tools, and frameworks that accelerate pipeline creation and shorten ramp-up time for new hires. You will leverage AI not as a buzzword but as a practical lever to scale customer insights, accelerate launches, and surface competitive advantages. You will act as the voice of the customer internally, turning raw discovery calls and feedback into actionable product and marketing inputs that shape priorities. You will operate with a bias for action in a fast-moving startup, navigating ambiguity without needing perfect information before taking the next right step. You will be expected to wear multiple hats, experiment quickly, and iterate based on real-world results rather than rigid plans.
Key facts
What you'll do
Develop sharp positioning and messaging that explains what Proton does, why it matters, and how the platform is different from incumbent solutions.
Own the go-to-market strategy for new product capabilities, from initial announcement to scaled rollout across channels.
Create sales enablement materials, talk tracks, battle cards, and collateral that help the team win in complex distributor environments.
Conduct customer interviews and shadow discovery calls to capture how buyers describe their problems and what success looks like for them.
Translate customer insights into refined positioning, messaging frameworks, and prioritized content that guides demand generation.
Track competitor activity and market shifts, then translate that intelligence into differentiation strategies and updated playbooks.
Partner closely with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to align on personas, pain points, and the core stories that make Proton compelling.
Use AI tools to scale customer research, accelerate launch cycles, and surface patterns that would be difficult to see manually.
Own the documentation and training resources that prepare Sales to confidently articulate value and handle common objections.
Define metrics that indicate successful launches, then iterate based on pipeline feedback and conversion data.
Identify gaps in existing messaging and run experiments to improve clarity, relevance, and conversion across touchpoints.
Act as the central expert on customer problems and language so that cross-functional teams speak with one coherent voice.
Support the CEO and leadership team in shaping the long-term narrative as Proton evolves from CRM toward a multi-product platform.
Contribute to external content, including decks, proposals, and case studies that demonstrate outcomes for distributors using Proton.
Requirements
Bring 3-5 years of product marketing experience in B2B SaaS, ideally within a distribution, manufacturing, or enterprise software context.
Thrive in environments with high ambiguity and incomplete information, turning that ambiguity into structured decisions and clear narratives.
Demonstrate a proven ability to build go-to-market strategies that resonate with customers and drive adoption of new features.
Show a bias for action, comfort with hands-on work, and the ability to make progress even when you are not an expert in the underlying technology.
Write clear, concise product copy that connects features to customer outcomes and ties directly to real distributor pain points.
Comfortably manage multiple priorities across stakeholders while maintaining a coherent story about what Proton offers and why it matters.
Use data and customer feedback to inform decisions, balancing qualitative insights with quantitative signals where available.
Approach collaboration as a partnership, actively aligning with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure shared ownership of outcomes.
Nice to have
Experience running product launches in complex B2B environments where distributors or channel partners are the primary buyers.
Background in wholesale distribution or related industries where product variety, SKU complexity, and pricing tiers are common.
Familiarity with AI tools for research, synthesis, and content creation, and a track record of using them to improve marketing workflows.
