Enterprise Engagement Manager
Job description
About the role
Proton is seeking an Engagement Manager to define how the company appears within a distribution environment. This role owns scoping, solution design, and the full journey from initiation through launch and into sustained usage. The position functions as a forward-deployed product manager, interfacing directly with customer executives to understand operations and identify what truly drives value. You will determine what should exist next, particularly for undefined use cases, integrations, and nascent products, shaping solutions in collaboration with customers. This position leverages AI as a core working instrument, and the ideal candidate demonstrates how models like Claude can enhance individual productivity and inform product strategy. You will own the narrative of the engagement, translating ambiguous needs into structured outcomes while maintaining alignment between customer expectations and solution delivery. The role requires influencing without direct authority, balancing strategic vision with the pragmatism of implementation constraints and timelines.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Define implementation scope and solution architecture, making decisions on build versus configure and recommending appropriate boundaries.
- Partner with customers to explore new use cases and integrations, including entirely new products, and articulate what should be constructed.
- Orchestrate engagements from initial planning through launch, then guiding adoption and exploring expansion opportunities.
- Collaborate with forward-deployed engineers to develop integrations, data pipelines, and platform-level connections.
- Communicate directly with customer leadership, setting expectations, highlighting risks early, and maintaining executive confidence throughout the engagement.
- Champion product adoption after launch and identify further expansion points within the account for ongoing growth.
- Translate field insights and customer feedback back to product teams to influence the strategic roadmap and solution portfolio.
- Provide concrete examples of how personal AI tool usage has improved delivery efficiency and outcomes.
- Conduct discovery sessions to uncover latent needs and map them to potential AI-driven solutions.
- Facilitate workshops that align stakeholder objectives and clarify success metrics for each engagement.
- Assess existing workflows and systems to identify automation opportunities that deliver measurable value.
- Negotiate project boundaries and timelines to ensure feasibility while maximizing customer satisfaction.
- Monitor deployment health post-launch and recommend optimizations based on usage data and feedback.
- Act as the primary point of contact for strategic decisions, ensuring continuity and coherence across the engagement lifecycle.
- Document best practices and lessons learned to refine the engagement methodology for future initiatives.
Requirements
- 5-8+ years owning ambiguous, customer-facing problems from start to finish within professional services, solutions, consulting, product, or a startup background.
- A product-oriented mindset that distinguishes essential requirements from desirable enhancements and finds motivation in building new solutions.
- The ability to make a compelling case to Vice President and C-level stakeholders while understanding underlying technical realities.
- Technical comprehension of APIs and data flows is required; hands-on coding skills are not necessary.
- A track record of owning delivery results rather than merely suggesting actions.
- Composure in the face of shifting scope during engagements, with the capacity to re-plan and maintain progress.
- Documented experience using AI tools such as Claude, including specific descriptions of how these tools improved your work.
- A personality characterized by low ego and high accountability, as this role is still evolving and will be shaped by its incumbent.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience working in fast-paced, matrixed environments with multiple competing priorities.
- Proven ability to manage stakeholders and build consensus across technical and non-technical teams.
- Willingness to travel as required to meet customer needs and collaborate with cross-functional partners.
- Commitment to adhering to company policies and ethical standards in all client interactions.
- Demonstrated capacity to learn new technologies quickly and apply them to solve real-world problems.
- Reliability in meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality outputs under pressure.
