About the role

You will own the end-to-end strategy and execution for Gridware's full stack product portfolio, aligning product vision with the complex realities of utility operations and grid physics. You will translate the intricate needs of utility dispatchers and field crews into a coherent product roadmap that balances innovation with the stringent safety and reliability demands of the electric grid. This role requires you to synthesize inputs from hardware telemetry, software performance, and field deployment data to define the next generation of active grid response capabilities. You will be the central architect ensuring that our sensors, analytics, and control systems work as one integrated system to prevent outages and protect communities. You will foster deep collaboration with AI, hardware, and field operations to ensure our products remain at the cutting edge of grid management technology. Your decisions will directly influence how our platform helps customers make high-consequence decisions with greater confidence and precision. You will champion a culture of operational excellence and rigorous product discipline across all teams. What you'll do

Define and own the end-to-end product vision and strategy for Gridware's hardware, software, data, and services portfolio, ensuring alignment with utility customer needs and regulatory landscapes.

Architect the full-stack product roadmap by synthesizing inputs from field deployments, real-time monitoring data, and customer feedback to prioritize features that enhance grid reliability and safety.

Lead cross-functional discovery and validation initiatives with utility stakeholders to de-risk new product concepts and confirm market fit before significant investment.

Establish and own the core metrics framework for product performance, defining success criteria across adoption, reliability, safety impact, and operational efficiency for all product lines.

Partner with the AI team to integrate machine learning capabilities into our sensor network and analytics platform, creating intelligent insights that reduce false alarms and improve response times.

Champion the voice of the customer internally, ensuring that field crew constraints and dispatcher workflows are central to every product decision and user experience iteration.

Own the lifecycle management of our hardware fleet products, from initial field trial design through manufacturing feedback loops to end-of-life planning and replacement strategies.

Collaborate with regulatory and policy experts to ensure our products meet evolving standards for grid resilience, data security, and compliance across all operating regions.

Drive the development of operational playbooks and training materials that enable utility customers to fully leverage the capabilities of our active grid response platform.

Mentor and grow a product organization of approximately 10 individuals, fostering a culture of data-driven decision making, rigorous experimentation, and continuous learning.

Establish feedback loops with our manufacturing and field installation teams to ensure product designs are robust, maintainable, and cost-effective in real-world environments.

Define and manage the product marketing narrative for each major release, working closely with sales and customer success to articulate value propositions to executive stakeholders.

Analyze competitive landscape and market trends to identify opportunities for differentiation and new product categories that address emerging grid challenges.

Champion the use of real-world performance data to iterate on product designs, ensuring our solutions evolve alongside the grid and our customers' needs.

Requirements

You possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

You have a minimum of 8 years of experience in product management, with at least 5 years focused on leading complex hardware and software-integrated products.

You hold a deep understanding of electrical grid operations, including distribution systems, transmission fundamentals, and the challenges of wildfire mitigation and grid reliability.

You have direct experience managing a product portfolio that spans both physical hardware devices and software-as-a-service platforms.

You are proficient in interpreting technical data and telemetry from distributed sensor networks and can translate these insights into actionable product requirements.

You have a proven track record of working effectively with utility companies, regulators, and field crews to navigate complex stakeholder environments.

You hold strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing engineering and product teams in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

You demonstrate excellent judgment in making strategic product decisions with incomplete information under tight deadlines and high-stakes scenarios.

Nice to have

Experience with demand response systems, distributed energy resources, or energy market operations.

Background in wildfire risk mitigation technologies and utility safety programs.

Practical notes

This role is based in San Francisco, CA and requires occasional travel to utility sites across the US and Canada.
