About the role
Prismmaritime is seeking skilled Project Managers at various levels (I, II, III) to join our dynamic team in Chesapeake, Virginia. This role is pivotal in overseeing and guiding projects from inception to completion, ensuring that they align with our strategic objectives and are delivered on time and within budget. As a Project Manager, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder expectations, and drive project success in a fast-paced maritime environment.

What you'll do
- Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, objectives, resources, and deliverables, while also identifying potential risks and mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate with internal teams, including engineering, procurement, and operations, to ensure seamless project execution and communication.
- Facilitate regular project meetings to review progress, address challenges, and adjust plans as necessary to meet project goals.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and vendors to foster collaboration and ensure alignment on project objectives.
- Monitor project performance using appropriate tools and techniques, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Prepare and present project documentation, including status reports, budgets, and timelines, to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Implement best practices in project management methodologies, continuously seeking opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Mentor and guide junior project management staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional development within the team.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, maintaining a focus on safety and quality throughout all project phases.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to capture lessons learned and inform future project planning and execution.
- Collaborate with the finance team to manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial accountability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, preferably within the maritime or engineering sectors.
- Proven track record of successfully managing projects from initiation to completion, with a focus on delivering results.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools, such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana, Trello) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, fostering positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Willingness to travel as required for project-related activities.
Nice to have
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Experience in the maritime industry or with government contracts is a plus.
- Familiarity with risk management practices and tools.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and methodologies.
- Experience with budget management and financial reporting in a project context.
Skills & tools
Candidates should be proficient in project management software and tools, including Microsoft Project, Asana, or similar platforms. Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) are essential for reporting and documentation. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and risk management frameworks will be advantageous.
