About the role
The Offset Sheetfed Pressman directs the Press crew and performs manual and machine operator tasks related to the set-up, maintenance and operations of the press. This role is accountable for examining job orders to determine the specific quantity to be printed, stock specifications, colors, and any special printing instructions provided. The position holder is responsible for examining offset printing plates for visual defects and applying techniques to repair minor defects or informing the supervisor of plates that are unrepairable. Success in this role requires the ability to apply packing sheets to blanket cylinders to build up blanket thickness to match the diameter of the plate cylinder. Requirements
2+ years as a Pressman or 5-7 years as a Second Pressman in a similar industrial environment.
In depth knowledge of the mechanics and capabilities of offset printing press equipment and processes.
Able to accurately distinguish color variation and make adjustments to maintain color consistency throughout production.
Strong mechanical aptitude to understand, troubleshoot, and service press components as needed.
Requires experience running, troubleshooting, and performing quality control checks on printed materials.
Ability to understand written instructions and set up the press accurately based on provided documentation and job tickets.
Ability to frequently lift, bend, and turn heavy materials and equipment parts as required by the role.
Ability to regularly sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility for extended periods during shifts.
Regularly exposed to noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils inherent to the printing press environment.
