Night Shift Sheetfed Press Leader
Job Purpose
The Night Shift Sheetfed Press Leader is responsible for directing overnight printing operations to meet company quality standards. This role focuses on sustaining high machine efficiency while minimizing operational interruptions. The leader ensures the sheetfed team performs effectively throughout the night shift.
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The leader provides guidance, instruction, and direction to the sheetfed team to guarantee tasks are finished quickly and effectively. They act as the central point of contact for team members, engaging each member to achieve company goals. Training, development, and motivation of team members are core daily activities. Leading by example is essential to encourage the team to work to their fullest potential.
This role works in close coordination with other pressmen. Responsibilities include make ready, operating, and maintaining the sheet-fed offset printing press. The leader communicates and escalates pertinent issues to the Pressroom Manager without delay. They assist the pressroom manager with training and developing new employees entering the night shift.
Maintenance of machine activity logs and part usage logs is handled with maintenance personnel. The leader will work with both the pressroom manager and plant manager on continuous improvement projects. Assistance with troublesome job setups and QC sign-offs is provided to the pressroom manager and fellow pressmen.
Required Skills
Excellent communication skills are mandatory for coordinating with diverse teams during night shifts. The leader participates in problem solving and quality improvement task forces actively. Providing technical support and leadership throughout the department is a standard expectation. Achieving and maintaining company standards in production, quality, waste, and safety is required.
A high level of confidentiality must be upheld at all times. The leader sets up and adjusts presses for job runs to meet specifications. This includes making necessary color or register corrections and press adjustments prior to production to maintain quality specifications. Document review is performed to ensure job requirements are known and understood before starting.
Monitoring product quality against samples and established standards is a primary duty. Corrections are made immediately when deviations are found. Press repairs, maintenance, upkeep, and cleaning are performed to ensure reliable operation. Following Pressroom procedures for control sheets, charging time and material, load tags, FSC stock, and samples is mandatory.
Maintaining acceptable productivity standards while minimizing raw material waste is a key metric. Additional duties are accepted as assigned. Execution of all responsibilities occurs in a lawful and ethical manner.

Compensation and Location
The position is based in Richmond, VA. The engagement involves night shift leadership for the sheetfed team. Compensation is set at $24.62 per hour.

Supporting new staff onboarding and development is done alongside the pressroom manager. Participation in continuous improvement initiatives with management and technical staff is required. The leader assists with job setup challenges and quality control verification.
