About the role
The Digital Press Operator at Imagine Production is responsible for all aspects of operating large format digital printing equipment to meet production schedules and quality standards. This position owns the full operational lifecycle of large format digital printing, from raw material intake through to finished product readiness. The role demands vigilance in monitoring print performance, with a specific focus on ink adhesion, curing integrity, color control fidelity, and durability through finishing methods. The operator is tasked with ensuring every print run is free from visible defects such as streaks, fingerprints, dirt, ink blotches, and scratches. To achieve this, the operator will leverage internal database systems to meticulously track jobs and record all production specifications, including printer settings, quantities, stock usage, and color profiles. Accurate completion of job ticket paperwork is a core accountability. The position requires proactive and reactive maintenance to maintain equipment productivity and necessitates effective communication with other shifts and departments to ensure workflow continuity.
What you'll do
Perform daily material handling and finishing activities in alignment with production schedules.
Operate large format digital printing equipment to meet Imagine production and quality standards.
Ensure print outputs exhibit strong ink adhesion, proper curing, accurate color control, and resilience to finishing processes.
Conduct thorough inspections to verify prints are free from streaks, fingerprints, dirt, ink blotches, and scratches.
Utilize internal database systems to track jobs and meticulously record production specifications, printer settings, quantities, stock usage, and color profiles.
Complete job ticket paperwork with precision and timeliness.
Execute regularly scheduled maintenance procedures on equipment to sustain optimal performance.
Develop advanced equipment knowledge to independently troubleshoot and resolve equipment-related problems.
Communicate and comprehend straightforward instructions with other shifts and departments to maintain workflow continuity.
Remain aware of overall department workload and assist in other areas during peak times to keep presses productive.
Master the use of ColorGate RIP software, including color profile management, spot color replacement, manual layouts, and general image manipulation such as sizing, rotation, and mirroring.
Perform a comprehensive Quality Check prior to ripping jobs to verify size, color profile, resolution, replaced colors, and correct sheet layout.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment by organizing printed and raw materials and performing sweeping and mopping as needed.
Dispose of all scrap and trash responsibly and empty trash cans and dumpsters at the end of the shift.
Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols when handling chemicals, which require the use of safety gloves and safety glasses for a small amount of time each day.
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications of Position
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Must be able to see color accurately to perform print quality checks.
Must have basic math skills for measuring and material estimation.
Must be proficient in data entry to log job details in internal systems.
Must demonstrate general computer skills to navigate production software and databases.
Must have manual dexterity for repetitive work tasks.
Must be able to frequently walk and stand during the shift.
Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally and participate in team lifts as required.
Must be able to read and understand tape measures and other measurement equipment.
Must comply with all safety procedures regarding chemical handling, including the use of safety gloves and safety glasses.
Working Conditions
Shift: Sunday
Thursday, 10:45pm - 7:15am.
The role is exposed to non-harsh chemicals where safety gloves and safety glasses are required for a small amount of time each day.
The position requires the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally and necessitates team lifts from time to time.
