Medical Director, Women's Primary Care

About the role

You will be clinically responsible for an assigned population of patients from the perspective of individual patient care and population health metrics, owning the medical oversight of their longitudinal journey. You will provide collaborative physician supervision and consultation for an experienced team of APPs, RNs, registered dietitians, mental health specialists, and others, guiding their clinical decision-making. You will lead multi-disciplinary team-based care coordination meetings and work with in-house clinical specialties to develop holistic, individualized care plans that address the full spectrum of women's needs. You will help drive population health programs toward healthier outcomes by partnering closely with Operations and Product leads to identify gaps and improvement opportunities. You will partner closely with the leadership team to identify and implement interventions that address cross-disciplinary or practice performance improvement needs. You will facilitate and lead cross-disciplinary review sessions for episodic events and perform periodic peer review, identifying opportunities for team education and training. You will take regular virtual call shifts to support the 24/7 availability to patients and represent Pomelo's care internally and externally as a clinical ambassador.

• Orchestrate multidisciplinary case discussions to resolve challenging patient scenarios and optimize individualized care pathways.
• Liaise with product and operations stakeholders to translate clinical requirements into actionable solutions that enhance member experience.
• Mentor advanced practice providers and ancillary staff through structured teaching sessions and real-time clinical coaching.
• Moderate morbidity and mortality reviews to derive actionable learning points and elevate the standard of care across the team.
• Evaluate emerging telehealth tools and digital health platforms to recommend enhancements that support remote care delivery.
• Correlate social determinants of health with clinical outcomes to design population health strategies that reduce disparities.
• Champion quality improvement initiatives that align with value-based care principles and organizational accountability metrics.
• Validate clinical documentation accuracy and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and payer requirements.
• Lead the deployment of standardized care pathways for chronic conditions prevalent in women's health.
• Coordinate outreach campaigns to improve patient engagement, adherence, and preventive care utilization.
• Serve as the clinical expert voice in cross-functional forums to guide strategic decisions impacting women's primary care.

Requirements

• 5+ years practicing as an attending physician with demonstrated experience in women's primary care settings.
• Experience leading collaborative, team-based care models that integrate multiple disciplines and care modalities.
• A passion to improve clinical outcomes coupled with exceptional organization and attention to detail in high-stakes environments.
• A growth mindset with the ability to approach process change and ambiguous situations with enthusiasm, creativity, and accountability.
• Facility using multiple tech platforms, including electronic health records, telehealth tools, and data dashboards, with an eagerness to advise about platform improvements.
• Eagerness to thrive in a fast-paced, metric-driven environment where data informs clinical and operational decisions.
• Phenomenal interpersonal and communication skills to engage patients, families, colleagues, and stakeholders effectively.
• Medical degree from an accredited US medical school with successful completion of an accredited US residency program in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
• Active, unrestricted license to practice in the US with willingness to obtain licenses in all US states as required by service scope.
• Active board certification with the American Academy of Family Physicians or the American Board of Internal Medicine.
• Current certification in menopause management from The Menopause Society.

• Prior telehealth experience within a primary care or virtual care setting.

Practical notes

This role is based at headquarters and requires regular in-person presence as scheduled. The position is full-time and exempt, with standard US working hours supplemented by periodic virtual call coverage for 24/7 patient support. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship requirements at the time of hire. Travel is not required for this position. This role is not available to remote workers located outside the United States. No visa sponsorship is provided for this position.
