We are creating a community of knowledgeable birth and full-spectrum doulas who provide direction and education to families throughout major life events. This opportunity allows you to guide individuals through pregnancy, delivery, and the postpartum period as a 1099 independent contractor. You will not receive employee benefits such as health coverage or paid time off. Pomelo Care offers support for your independent work by handling client matching, billing, and administrative tasks.

Your primary mission is to empower families and improve birth outcomes through consistent support and education. You will maintain precise records for every visit and birth attendance. All services must comply with privacy, quality, and regulatory standards set forth by Pomelo.

To participate in this network, you must meet specific criteria. You possess current certification as a birth or full-spectrum doula. Your experience includes a thorough understanding of pregnancy, labor, lactation support, and postpartum healing. You demonstrate strong interpersonal abilities, communicating effectively with diverse families through virtual and face-to-face interactions. Familiarity with telehealth software, video conferencing, and digital record-keeping is required. You must be available for appointments outside standard business hours, including nights and weekends. Your service area must include Lancaster, York, Adams, Franklin, and Union regions within Pennsylvania.

Our credentialing process ensures quality and compliance. After expressing interest, you will complete a series of steps. First, you will have a 30-minute video interview with our recruitment team. Next, you will submit documents verifying your certification from the Pennsylvania Certification Board, your NPI number, and your Adult and Infant CPR/First Aid credentials. You will also provide proof of Medicaid enrollment and state board approval, along with evidence of personal liability insurance. A background check will be conducted before final approval.

Pomelo Care supports your professional growth so you can focus on client care. You are relieved from administrative burdens, as we manage insurance enrollment, billing, and documentation. We assist in connecting you with clients who match your schedule and expertise. You will have access to administrative and technical guidance, plus charting assistance to simplify your workflow. A large network of peer doulas is available for shared learning and community support. You retain control over your schedule, accepting or declining opportunities as desired. No minimum number of matches or earnings are guaranteed.

This role involves significant responsibility. You will manage the entire family journey from initial contact through postpartum follow-up. The position requires navigating intense transitions with calm, informed presence. You will convert complex medical details into understandable plans while honoring family choice and respect.

Key information outlines the structure of this position. You will operate as a 1099 contractor, setting your own hourly rate of $22.00. The position is not eligible for traditional employment status.

Your responsibilities include scheduling initial appointments to identify family needs. You will create customized guidance plans that honor cultural practices and individual choices. Detailed documentation of visits and birth events must be completed promptly. You will guide families through privacy protocols and quality measures for both online and in-person support. Using digital tools, you will keep records up to date. Availability for evening and weekend sessions, both remotely and on-site, is essential. You will provide service to families in the specified Pennsylvania counties. You will also engage with a community of peers to enhance skills and confidence.

Current certification for birth or full-spectrum doulas is mandatory. Your expertise must cover pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and postpartum care. Clear written and verbal communication skills are essential for interacting with varied clients. Comfort with virtual platforms and electronic documentation systems is required. Flexibility to work around family schedules, including nights and weekends, is necessary. Residence or service capability within the designated Pennsylvania counties is required.
