Your Role in the Pomelo Network

Your primary duty is to educate and guide expecting and new families throughout the distinct phases of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery. You play a vital role in improving birth outcomes by ensuring families feel supported, informed, and empowered during this transformative period. The work requires you to maintain timely and accurate documentation for every visit and birth support session. You must adhere strictly to all applicable documentation, privacy, quality, and compliance standards governing services conducted through the Pomelo platform.

Qualifications to Join Pomelo

To join Pomelo's growing network of professionals, you must meet specific criteria demonstrating your expertise and readiness. You have completed certification and training as a birth and/or full-spectrum doula. Your experience includes working directly with families, providing an in-depth understanding of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery. The role demands strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling you to connect effectively with families from diverse backgrounds through both virtual and in-person interactions. You are comfortable utilizing telehealth platforms, video conferencing tools, and electronic documentation systems to deliver care.

Your availability must accommodate the needs of families, requiring presence for virtual and in-person work, including evenings and weekends. Geographically, you are located in or able to serve one of Pomelo's core service areas, which include Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Cleveland, Comanche, and Canadian county in Oklahoma.

Credentialing and Application Process

The application process is designed to verify your qualifications and ensure the highest standard of care. Once you apply, the Pomelo team will guide you through a credentialing process. This process involves a 30-minute video call with a member of the recruitment team. You will be required to provide proof and verification of your doula certification, your NPI number, and your Adult & Infant CPR/First Aid certification. Additionally, you must provide proof of Medicaid ID and verification of personal liability insurance. The process concludes with a background screening.

Joining Pomelo provides the infrastructure and support necessary to focus on client care. You are relieved of the burden of paperwork, as Pomelo handles credentialing, billing, and the administrative complexities of accepting insurance. This structure allows you to receive reliable and timely payment for your work. The network facilitates client matching and outreach, connecting you with families whose needs align with your availability and expertise. You will have access to comprehensive support, including administrative and technical assistance to navigate Pomelo's systems, along with charting and documentation support to streamline your workflow. also, you will join a vibrant peer community consisting of hundreds of doulas for ongoing support, shared learning, and professional connection. The arrangement maintains your professional flexibility, as you choose the days and times you are available for Pomelo clients. You may accept or decline opportunities as you see fit, and Pomelo does not guarantee a minimum number of matches or compensation.
