What you'll do
- Design and develop automation systems for various applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to define project requirements and specifications for control systems.
- Create detailed control system documentation, including functional specifications, system architecture diagrams, and user manuals.
- Program and configure PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces) to ensure optimal performance of automated systems.
- Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of automation systems to identify and resolve issues before deployment.
- Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning of automation systems at client sites.
- Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored automation solutions that enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in automation and controls to continuously improve our offerings and processes.
- Participate in project meetings and provide regular updates on project status, risks, and timelines.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, sharing your expertise in automation and controls design.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure the availability of high-quality components for automation projects.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes and methodologies related to automation design and implementation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in automation and controls design, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proficiency in programming PLCs and HMIs from various manufacturers, such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Schneider Electric.
- Strong understanding of control theory, instrumentation, and process control systems.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
- Familiarity with CAD software for creating control system layouts and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to automation systems (e.g., ISO, IEC).
- Previous experience in a client-facing role, providing technical support and solutions.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or C++ for automation applications.
- Certification in automation or controls engineering (e.g., ISA, PMP) is a plus.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in automation software and tools, including PLC programming environments and simulation software.
- Strong analytical skills to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with project management tools to track progress and manage timelines effectively.
