About the role
Plaid is building the infrastructure that connects millions of users to their financial accounts through a network of 12,000 institutions. You will join the Credit team to develop data-driven solutions that improve underwriting, verification, and servicing for lenders. In this role, you will act as the primary product owner for a suite of risk and insights offerings that enable lenders to make smarter decisions. You will translate complex financial data into clear product strategies that balance lender needs with regulatory requirements. You will leverage your expertise to turn ambiguous problems into structured opportunities for product innovation. You will serve as the bridge between data science, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure solutions are both impactful and feasible. Your work will directly influence how lenders access and utilize alternative data to drive growth and reduce risk.

What you'll do
- Manage the full product lifecycle for LendScore, Income Insights, CashFlow Insights, and Network Insights from discovery through retirement.
- Draft detailed technical specifications and requirements to guide engineering and data science teams through complex feature delivery.
- Oversee sprint planning, backlog grooming, and cross-functional standups to maintain strict project timelines and dependencies.
- Coordinate go-to-market strategies for new launches and facilitate post-launch retrospectives to identify optimization opportunities.
- Evaluate product performance metrics and qualitative user feedback to refine the development roadmap on a quarterly basis.
- Partner with sales, marketing, design, compliance, and customer success departments to increase product adoption and ensure alignment.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators, establishing guardrails and success metrics for every major initiative.
- Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify gaps where Plaid can differentiate its credit and insights suite.
- Collaborate with legal and risk teams to ensure all product proposals adhere to financial regulations and data privacy standards.
- Synthesize insights from raw data streams to communicate clear narratives about user behavior and credit risk trends.
- Prioritize features based on a combination of strategic impact, technical complexity, and resource availability.
- Act as the central point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding product questions, status updates, and roadmap changes.
- Drive the documentation of user stories, acceptance criteria, and workflow diagrams to eliminate ambiguity for execution teams.
- Facilitate workshops with lenders to uncover pain points and validate hypotheses before significant engineering investment.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in product management within B2B SaaS, fintech, or data-focused sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver products on schedule while managing multiple workstreams and shifting priorities.
- Experience working directly with engineering and data science teams to translate business problems into technical solutions.
- Ability to influence stakeholders across an organization through clear written and verbal communication, even without direct authority.
- Proficiency in defining and monitoring key performance indicators to drive decision-making and measure product success.
- Strong understanding of financial data products, APIs, and the implications of data reliability for product decisions.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where requirements evolve based on regulatory feedback and market demands.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the New York City office and to engage with key partners and customers.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in consumer credit, underwriting, lending, or financial data products.
- Familiarity with credit risk modeling, underwriting workflows, or decisioning systems.
- Experience with A/B testing frameworks and experimentation methodologies to validate product hypotheses.
