Placemakr integrates apartment living with hotel-style hospitality to create unique guest experiences. As a General Manager, you will lead property operations, manage budgets, and motivate your team to maintain high performance standards. This role requires a hands-on leader who can navigate a fast-paced environment while driving both financial results and resident satisfaction. You will be responsible for setting the strategic and operational direction of your property in alignment with company goals. The position demands a proactive problem-solver who thrives on removing obstacles and optimizing workflows. You will act as the primary decision-maker for your property, balancing the needs of guests, team members, and corporate stakeholders. Success in this role will be measured by your ability to build a resilient team and maintain consistent service excellence. You will own the full P&L and be accountable for achieving budget targets and long-term operational health.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Oversee front-of-house, back-of-house, and administrative functions to ensure seamless daily operations.
- Direct financial performance and net operating income through rigorous budget management and revenue optimization initiatives.
- Recruit, lead, mentor, and develop a team of managers, supervisors, and individual contributors to foster a high-performance culture.
- Partner with non-property teams on talent acquisition, training programs, and performance management to align organizational objectives.
- Intervene and provide hands-on support during escalated guest issues and complex operational challenges.
- Enforce adherence to safety, security, and company-specific standard operating procedures at every level.
- Maintain flexible availability for rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet business demands.
- Collaborate with Area Managers to ideate, design, and execute solutions that elevate property standards and guest satisfaction.
- Monitor key performance indicators and adjust strategies to improve occupancy, retention, and financial outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and implementing best practices across all departments.
- Serve as a brand ambassador for Placemakr by ensuring every guest interaction reflects the company's values and service expectations.
- Coordinate with external vendors and partners to maintain the property's infrastructure and service quality.
- Train and coach staff on compliance, customer service, and operational protocols to ensure consistency.
- Support special events and community initiatives that enhance the living experience and strengthen local relationships.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in business, management, communications, hospitality, or a related field or possess equivalent work experience.
- Bring a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in multi-family real estate or a customer-centric hospitality environment.
- Demonstrate at least 1 year of experience leading multiple departments within the multi-family industry.
- Show a proven track record in managing team retention, succession planning, and performance development.
- Have hands-on experience with scheduling, training, and managing non-exempt staff in a regulated environment.
- Deliver documented success in managing controllable expenses and driving operational outcomes profitably.
- Possess the ability to lift, carry, or move objects up to 50 pounds and remain physically active throughout the workday.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States and at least 18 years of age at the time of employment.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation for potential property-related travel.
- Pass a background check and drug screening as part of the pre-employment process.
- Comply with all company policies, codes of conduct, and ethical standards.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills essential for cross-functional collaboration.
- Adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
- Commit to ongoing learning and professional development in hospitality and property management practices.
