Maintenance Manager
Job description
Maintenance Manager
Placemakr exists at the intersection of apartment living, vacation rentals, and hotel hospitality. We collaborate with developers, property operators, and investors to curate apartment-like spaces in hand-picked neighborhoods. Our tech-enabled buildings create one-of-a-kind guest experiences and add tremendous value to the underlying real estate. These spaces are more than a place to spend the night; they are a place to call home.
Our property team members help our buildings thrive by focusing on execution and ensuring a great experience for both residents and guests. Our non-property team members support property execution and the evolution of other areas within our platform. They can enjoy remote-first work with the freedom to choose their location, provided they have access to a workspace and reliable Wi-Fi. Collaboration is key, so our remote-first teams and property leaders have biannual in-person get-togethers at various locations across the US.
We are looking for collaborative, driven individuals from corporate non-property teams to our property teams and leaders to join us as we continue to expand our presence.
The Impact You'll Have
At Placemakr, exceptional resident experiences depend on safe, functional, and well-maintained homes. As the Maintenance Manager, your mission is to ensure maintenance needs across your assigned housing portfolio are addressed quickly, consistently, and with a commitment to exceptional service. Around here, no two days look the same, and this is exactly how we like it. You will balance competing priorities, build strong partnerships, coordinate across multiple property management companies, and ensure maintenance issues are resolved efficiently while minimizing disruption to residents. Whether you are collaborating with building engineering teams, supporting Resident Ready activities, monitoring work order performance, or resolving operational challenges, you will serve as the connector that keeps maintenance operations moving.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will partner closely with Housing Coordinators, the Housing Program Manager, Resident Experience, Housekeeping, and property management teams to ensure maintenance operations support Resident Ready standards, contractual service expectations, and an exceptional resident experience. Success in this role requires outstanding communication, relationship management, organization, and operational follow-through. You will build trust with property partners, foster accountability across multiple stakeholders, and proactively identify opportunities to improve service delivery and operational performance.
This is a full-time position that requires open availability for flexible scheduling, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, on a rotational basis and as the needs of the business call for it. As an integral member of the leadership team responsible for the timely resolution of maintenance issues, you will be required to work rotational on-call shifts as determined by management and the needs of the business. This position requires regular travel between assigned Placemakr-managed communities throughout the Washington metropolitan area. Maintenance Managers should expect to spend the majority of their time traveling between assigned communities, inspecting residences, coordinating maintenance activities, meeting with property management partners, verifying completed work, and supporting operational teams.
About the role
You own the full maintenance lifecycle for housing portfolios, guiding intake through build and review to final ship while nurturing partner relationships. Every day brings new resident needs and property challenges that you solve with clear communication and decisive action. You ensure each home remains safe, functional, and ready, balancing speed with care across every shift.
