Key facts
What you'll do
- Provide first-line support for network-related issues, troubleshooting and resolving connectivity problems for both internal and external users.
- Monitor network performance and conduct regular assessments to ensure optimal operation, identifying areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with the IT team to implement network upgrades and enhancements, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and compliance.
- Assist in the configuration and deployment of network hardware, including routers, switches, and firewalls, ensuring alignment with best practices.
- Conduct regular network security assessments and audits, implementing necessary measures to safeguard against potential threats.
- Provide training and support to end-users, helping them understand network functionalities and best practices for usage.
- Participate in on-call support rotation, responding to urgent network issues outside of regular business hours as needed.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve complex network issues and procure necessary equipment.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending improvements and innovations to enhance network performance.
- Assist in the development and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans related to network operations.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in network support.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in network support or a similar role, with a strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and software, such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or similar applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical users.
- Experience with network security principles and practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent, are highly desirable.
- A strong commitment to customer service and a proactive approach to addressing user needs and concerns.
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud networking solutions and virtualization technologies.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automation tasks.
- Knowledge of VoIP systems and their integration into network infrastructure.
- Previous experience in a telecommunications environment is a plus.
- Understanding of compliance regulations related to network security, such as GDPR or HIPAA.
