This role is positioned within the Strategy and Corporate Development team, where you will be instrumental in accelerating global business expansion through strategic M&A, new market entry, and product diversification initiatives. The successful candidate will act as a critical analytical partner, translating complex market and financial data into clear strategic recommendations for senior leadership. You will own the end-to-end analysis required to evaluate strategic opportunities, ensuring that every recommendation is grounded in rigorous financial assessment and market intelligence. This position requires a high level of ownership, where you will not only support ongoing projects but also identify gaps and drive the collection of necessary information to close them. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to challenge assumptions, refine strategic narratives, and ensure alignment with Payjoy's long-term vision. What you'll do
- Construct sophisticated financial models in Excel to support P&L forecasting, valuation, and multi-scenario planning for strategic initiatives.
- Execute due diligence on potential M&A targets and investment opportunities by gathering, organizing, and analyzing financial statements and market data.
- Synthesize performance metrics, market research, and competitor intelligence to generate actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making.
- Design and build high-level presentations for Boards of Directors, investors, and executive leadership, ensuring clarity and visual impact.
- Partner with finance, legal, product, operations, and sales teams across different global regions to align on objectives and extract relevant data.
- Drive the collection and analysis of cohort-level data to assess unit economics, LTV, NPV, portfolio yield, and loss rates within potential target markets.
- Evaluate the operational and financial viability of new product concepts and market entry strategies using structured hypothesis testing and financial analysis.
- Monitor macroeconomic indicators and regulatory changes in key emerging markets to assess potential impacts on Payjoy's growth strategy.
- Lead the compilation of market landscape reports to identify new opportunities and potential threats in the fintech and credit sectors.
- Translate complex financial and operational data into clear narratives that support go/no-go decisions for leadership.
- Coordinate with the legal and compliance teams to ensure all strategic initiatives adhere to local regulations and internal policies.
- Utilize AI tools such as Claude to accelerate data analysis, summarize findings, and enhance the efficiency of strategic research tasks.
- Maintain a rigorous data management process to ensure the integrity and traceability of all inputs used in financial modeling.
- Contribute to the development of business cases and ROI analyses for capital allocation decisions related to strategic projects.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Possess 1 to 3 years of professional experience in investment banking, management consulting, corporate strategy, or similar analytical roles.
- Demonstrate expert proficiency in Excel for advanced financial modeling, data manipulation, and scenario analysis.
- Exhibit fluency in both English and Spanish to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Show a strong understanding of financial services, with specific knowledge of lending operations, cohort analysis, unit economics, and credit KPIs such as LTV, NPV, portfolio yield, and loss rates.
- Prove the ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously with a self-motivated and disciplined approach.
- Display strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Communicate effectively in a collaborative environment, providing clear written and verbal updates to cross-functional teams.

This is a full-time position based in Mexico City, CDMX.
