About the role
The Field Examiner II operates as the primary on-site risk control and information gathering function for Pathward's Working Capital portfolio. This position translates complex field observations into actionable intelligence that directly informs credit decisions and portfolio management. The hire will serve as the principal liaison between the field and credit departments, ensuring that all examinations are conducted with precision and consistency. They will mentor peers and junior staff on best practices for field examinations and reinforce the HUMBLE HUNGRY SMART cultural approach in every interaction. Success in this role requires the ability to translate policy into practical verification steps at the client location. The examiner must balance independent judgment with collaboration to protect the integrity of the bank's assets. Ultimately, this role drives financial inclusion by ensuring responsible, secure, and high-quality financial products are delivered without undue risk.
Key facts
What you'll do
Represent Pathward at client and prospective client locations to physically review records and assets, confirming the accuracy of financial information and the status of collateral.
Analyze the performance and adequacy of client collateral using structured evaluation methods.
Verify the accuracy and completeness of client recordkeeping systems to ensure compliance with internal standards.
Reconcile client reporting to bank records when requested, ensuring alignment between internal and external data sets.
Confirm that facilities are managed strictly in accordance with the approved client narrative and documented procedures.
Conduct survey exams at prospective borrower locations to assess risk before extending credit.
Execute exams and work out transactions, then synthesize findings into strategic recommendations for senior management.
Analyze client financial statements to assess performance, trends, and cash flow viability.
Maintain open and timely communication with the Credit Department throughout the examination lifecycle.
Prepare clear, concise, and professional written reports that summarize findings and outline actionable recommendations.
Schedule audits with clients in a manner that minimizes disruption and aligns with banking cycles.
Track time spent at client locations with precision to ensure accurate and transparent billing.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the risk management and growth objectives of the organization.
Requirements
Hold a Bachelor's degree or demonstrate equivalent education and work experience through a combination of training and professional background.
Possess a minimum of 3+ years of progressively responsible experience following the completion of a bachelor's degree.
Demonstrate an action-oriented mindset that enables rapid execution in dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environments.
Apply a detail-oriented approach to every phase of the examination process to identify discrepancies and mitigate risk.
Exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal, when interacting with clients and internal stakeholders.
Maintain a customer focus that balances empathy with adherence to policy and procedure.
Understand the importance of maintaining strict confidentiality regarding client information and bank processes.
Apply professional judgment to ensure compliance with banking regulations and internal control frameworks.

Compensation is determined within the specified range based on experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
