Rx-Lab Coating Lead

About the role

You will own the end to end execution of the coating floor within the prescription manufacturing cell, driving flawless output while safeguarding team safety and product integrity. You will act as the daily extension of the Coating Supervisor, translating strategic priorities into clear actions for the associate team on the line. This role requires you to build a culture of accountability, where every team member understands their role in meeting quality and productivity standards. You will partner cross functionally with QA, maintenance, and logistics to remove obstacles and keep workflows seamless. You will use data from daily production metrics to identify trends and implement rapid corrective actions. Leading with empathy, you will coach peers through challenges and recognize contributions that elevate the entire department. You will serve as the primary point of contact for resolving operational issues before they impact delivery.

What you'll do

• You will maintain company Health and Safety standards including PPE (where applicable) while ensuring all team members adhere to protocols.
• You will have a lead role in training of all new Coating Operator associates, delivering consistent onboarding and reinforcing best practices.
• You will support the Rx-Lab production team in driving flawless execution of the Coating department, aligning daily activities with broader operational goals.
• You will support the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure efficient and effective processes in order to maximize productivity.
• You will communicate clear priorities and productivity goals to Coating Department Associates and hold team and self-accountable for achieving them.
• You will provide management with productivity updates, offering concise reports that highlight achievements and areas requiring attention.
• You will proactively identify and communicate feedback on Associate performance, creating opportunities for targeted coaching.
• You will troubleshoot production errors in real time, diagnosing root causes and applying corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
• You will provide constructive feedback to team members, fostering an environment where continuous improvement is the norm.
• You will partner with other area leaders, ensuring continuity amongst the broader group and alignment on cross functional initiatives.
• You will interact daily with production supervisor, QA, maintenance, and other groups to keep operations running smoothly and properly.
• You will coordinate the daily prioritization of production order(s) within the Coating Department, escalating any and all delays to minimize impact.
• You will receive and put away replenishment inventory in a timely manner, supporting accurate stock management.
• You will provide project support within assigned area, contributing to process experiments and special assignments as requested.
• You will provide objective feedback and coaching on performance to staff, sharing feedback as required to drive development.
• You will support other Production/Operations areas including Print, Logistics, and Stockroom on an as needed basis.
• You will maintain excellent working relationships with other area/department leaders, promoting collaboration and transparency.
• You will analyze daily production metrics, taking a proactive approach for implementing improvements in a timely manner.

Requirements

• You are detailed and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks without sacrificing accuracy.
• You have previous experience in similar industry, demonstrating familiarity with manufacturing operations and quality expectations.
• You are an effective communicator and capable of leading with empathy, adapting your style to your audience.
• You have excellent multitasking skills, switching between operational oversight and hands on support as needed.
• You are comfortable working in a fast-paced light manufacturing environment, handling shifting priorities with poise.
• You are self motivated and an efficient problem solver, taking ownership of issues from start to resolution.
• You have 2+ years of experience in a production environment leading teams, guiding others toward shared goals.
• You have a proven track record meeting or exceeding expectations, delivering results even under pressure.
• You have good practical experience with Google Suite, using tools such as Sheets, Docs, and Slides in your daily work.
• You have basic computer knowledge, navigating software and systems with confidence.
• You have strong organizational skills, together with a results driven approach that focuses on outcomes.
• You have strong communication and interpersonal skills, building trust and clarity across levels.
• You hold a High School Diploma, demonstrating foundational knowledge and commitment to learning.
• You are available to work on site full time, aligning your schedule with operational needs.

Nice to have

• Experience with Schneider Optical Machinery, understanding its capabilities and operational nuances.
• Experience with DVI (Digital Vision Inc), LMS (Lab Management System), streamlining documentation and workflows.
• Experience providing operational training to others, developing structured learning paths and materials.
