About the role
Paga is a financial technology company based in Yaba, Lagos, and they are looking for a Treasury Accountant to join their team on a full-time basis. This role involves managing the company's cash positions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting treasury operations on a daily basis. The Treasury Accountant will work closely with finance teams to maintain liquidity and optimize cash management strategies across the organization. This position is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles in a fintech environment.

What you'll do
- Monitor daily cash positions and reconcile bank accounts to ensure accuracy across all ledgers and records
- Prepare treasury reports that summarize cash flow movements and liquidity positions for management review each month
- Process and record treasury transactions including deposits, withdrawals, and intercompany transfers in the accounting system accurately
- Collaborate with banking partners to ensure timely settlement of payments and proper documentation of all transactions
- Maintain and update treasury procedures to reflect current operational practices and internal control standards at Paga
- Assist with forecasting cash requirements and preparing liquidity projections for short and medium term planning activities
- Reconcile treasury-related accounts and investigate any discrepancies to resolve issues promptly and maintain data integrity
- Support the finance team in preparing budgets and variance analyses for treasury and cash management activities
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations governing cash handling and treasury operations at all times
- Document all treasury activities thoroughly to maintain a clear audit trail for internal and external reviews
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution or university
- At least two years of experience in treasury accounting or a similar finance role in a corporate setting
- Strong understanding of cash management principles and treasury operations within a modern business environment
- Proficiency in using accounting software and spreadsheet applications for financial data analysis and reporting purposes
- Ability to analyze financial data accurately and present findings in a clear and organized manner to stakeholders
- Good knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations and compliance requirements relevant to treasury and cash functions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accuracy in all financial records and reports consistently
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external banking partners on a regular basis
Nice to have
- Experience working in a fintech or payments company, which provides familiarity with digital transaction processing workflows
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP, which are commonly used in treasury and finance departments
- Certification such as ICAN or ACCA, which demonstrates advanced professional competence in accounting and finance disciplines
- Familiarity with treasury management systems and cash pooling techniques used in modern corporate finance operations

- This role is based in Yaba, Lagos, and requires on-site presence at the company's office each working day
- The Treasury Accountant will report to the Finance Manager or Head of Treasury at Paga
- Regular working hours apply, with occasional additional hours during month-end and year-end closing periods
