About the role
Otcflow is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Officer fluent in German to join our dynamic team in Amsterdam. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with legal standards and regulations while supporting our operations across various jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal affairs, particularly in the financial technology sector, and will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, as well as providing legal advice to internal stakeholders.

What you'll do
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policy documents to ensure they meet legal standards and protect the interests of Otcflow.
- Provide legal support and guidance to various departments, including compliance, operations, and business development, ensuring that all activities align with applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct thorough legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, particularly focusing on the fintech sector and its evolving landscape.
- Monitor changes in legislation and regulatory requirements that may impact the company's operations and advise management on necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel as needed to address complex legal issues and ensure comprehensive legal support for the organization.
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to promote compliance and mitigate legal risks.
- Support the company's efforts in dispute resolution, including managing legal disputes and liaising with external parties to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to educate employees about legal compliance, risk management, and best practices in the industry.
- Maintain accurate and organized legal documentation and records to ensure easy access and retrieval when needed.
- Engage with regulatory bodies and industry associations to stay informed about best practices and compliance requirements.
- Provide translation and interpretation services for legal documents and communications as necessary to facilitate smooth operations in German-speaking regions.
- Contribute to the development of the company's legal strategy and assist in identifying opportunities for growth and improvement in legal processes.
Requirements
- A law degree from an accredited institution, with a focus on corporate law, contract law, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in a legal role, preferably within the fintech or technology sectors.
- Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken, is essential; additional languages are a plus.
- Strong understanding of legal principles and regulations relevant to the financial technology industry.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and provide sound legal advice.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and concisely to non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy in legal documentation and compliance efforts.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and fostering collaborative relationships across departments.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in a legal role within a startup or high-growth company is advantageous.
- Familiarity with data protection laws, such as GDPR, and their implications for business operations.
- Knowledge of intellectual property law and its relevance to technology and software development.
- Experience in conducting internal audits and compliance assessments.
- Membership in a relevant legal association or bar is a plus.

- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools like Slack and Asana.
