What you'll do
- Lead the development and implementation of corporate compliance programs that align with Oscar Health's strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify potential risks and areas for improvement within the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA, ACA, and other healthcare-related laws.
- Provide guidance and training to employees on compliance policies and procedures, fostering a culture of accountability and ethical behavior.
- Monitor changes in legislation and industry standards to ensure that Oscar Health remains compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management and the board of directors, highlighting key findings and recommendations for improvement.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies, ensuring open lines of communication and prompt resolution of compliance issues.
- Manage the compliance team, providing mentorship and support to ensure high performance and professional development.
- Oversee the investigation of compliance-related incidents, ensuring that appropriate corrective actions are taken and documented.
- Act as a liaison between the compliance department and other business units to facilitate the integration of compliance into daily operations.
- Lead initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of compliance monitoring and reporting systems.
- Participate in industry forums and conferences to stay abreast of best practices and emerging trends in corporate compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs, preferably within the healthcare sector.
- Proven track record of successfully managing compliance programs and leading teams.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, ACA, and other relevant laws.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable compliance strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience in conducting audits and compliance assessments, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in compliance management software and tools.
Nice to have
- Certification in compliance (e.g., CHC, CCEP) is a plus.
- Experience with data privacy regulations and cybersecurity compliance.
- Familiarity with risk management frameworks and methodologies.
- Previous experience in a leadership role within a healthcare organization.
