About the role
Optro is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to lead complex, strategic projects that define the future of their platform. This position carries significant responsibility for mentoring junior team members and guiding them through technical challenges. The hired individual will own the architectural design of scalable solutions that directly support business objectives. You will play a key role in developing an AI-powered GRC Intelligence Platform that serves a global base of Fortune 500 companies. The role requires a balance of hands-on coding and high-level strategic thinking to ensure project success. You will be expected to drive initiatives from initial concept through final deployment with minimal supervision. Leadership in this position extends to influencing technical direction and ensuring best practices are followed by the engineering team.

What you'll do
- Deliver product features from conception through release, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Create clear and thorough design documentation that communicates system architecture to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Guide and mentor other engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical discussions.
- Make key decisions regarding application architecture to ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and fix software defects across the entire application stack efficiently.
- Develop robust back-end APIs using Node.JS that are secure, scalable, and highly available.
- Contribute to front-end development using modern frameworks such as React, Vue, or Ember to build intuitive user interfaces.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in an Agile development environment by attending sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Produce well-structured, maintainable, and testable code that adheres to industry standards and best practices.
- Maintain a customer-focused, product-oriented mindset to ensure delivered solutions meet user needs.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical specifications that support long-term product vision.
- Support the implementation of continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines to streamline releases.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to determine their applicability and benefit to the engineering workflow.
Requirements
- 8 or more years of experience building enterprise SaaS web applications in a professional capacity.
- Proven ability to guide high-quality work to completion across multiple developers and multiple concurrent projects.
- Experience with a current front-end framework like React, Vue, or Ember in production environments.
- Experience creating REST / JSON APIs, including designing specifications using Swagger or OpenAPI Spec.
- Experience writing software tests, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
- Capability to solve complex technical problems independently without constant direction or supervision.
- A Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A strong drive for continuous learning and hard work demonstrated through past achievements and career progression.
Nice to have
- Experience with Node.JS and modern ES6 or TypeScript for building scalable server-side applications.
- Experience with React for developing component-based user interfaces efficiently.
- Experience working on SaaS web applications that involve multi-tenant architectures and security considerations.
- Familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration of application deployments.

Practical notes
This is a remote position available in the state of Louisiana. The compensation package includes comprehensive health coverage for medical, dental, and vision needs.
