About the role
The is entrusted with managing the end to end payment cycle for Mexican remote operations. This role owns the accuracy, timing, and control integrity of accounts payable activities while ensuring strict adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements. You will serve as the primary finance partner for vendors and internal stakeholders, building trusted relationships and facilitating clear communication across distributed teams. Every transaction processed will reflect reliability, transparency, and a commitment to process excellence and compliance. You will safeguard company funds through meticulous oversight and timely intervention when exceptions arise. This position requires a disciplined approach to financial controls and a proactive mindset to resolve discrepancies before they escalate. Success in this role will be measured by the accuracy of payments, the timeliness of vendor settlements, and the quality of audit readiness.

What you'll do
- Validate the completeness and accuracy of invoice data through systematic verification against supporting documentation.
- Execute meticulous payment file preparation to ensure every vendor invoice is reviewed and approved before processing.
- Perform rigorous 3 way, 2 way, and 1 way match checks to confirm alignment between purchase orders, goods receipts, and invoices.
- Audit PDF invoices systematically to identify discrepancies and drive corrections with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Record vendor payments on time while monitoring discount windows to optimize cash flow and minimize unnecessary costs.
- Track and document every discrepancy in detail to maintain clear audit trails and protect company assets.
- Own outstanding memos by investigating variances, coordinating with teams, and ensuring credits are captured and applied correctly.
- Scan expense reports thoroughly and route charges to the proper accounts and cost centers with consistent classification standards.
- Collaborate closely with operations teams to update spend categories and vendor records, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Coordinate shipment of payments only after internal controls pass review and all required approvals are secured and documented.
- Serve as the point of contact for resolving payment related queries from vendors and internal partners in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized filing structures for both digital and physical payment records to support efficient retrieval and reporting.
- Support month end closing activities related to accounts payable, contributing to accurate financial reporting.
- Continuously evaluate processes to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, control, and compliance within the payables function.
Requirements
- Demonstrated precision in handling accounts payable processes with a strong attention to detail and control focus.
- Comfort working within Oportun systems for recording transactions and generating accurate reports without requiring constant supervision.
- Ability to follow internal policies rigorously to ensure that vendor payments remain correct, timely, and fully documented.
- Independence in managing a Mexican remote work arrangement while consistently meeting defined experience expectations and performance standards.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable principles including invoice processing, payment runs, and reconciliation activities.
- Proven ability to work accurately under time constraints while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with internal stakeholders and external vendors in a professional and respectful manner.
- Basic knowledge of financial controls and compliance requirements relevant to accounts payable operations.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information and vendor data.
- Commitment to maintaining accurate records and supporting audit procedures as needed.
