This position defines the full lifecycle management of rewards at onX, converting analytical market data into tangible program design. The role operates within a fast-moving, high-growth tech environment where structured ambiguity is expected. You will report directly to the Senior Director of People Operations.

Location and Engagement
The position is based in Bozeman, Montana, United States; Free Solo; Missoula, Montana, United States. This is a high-growth tech engagement characterized by a fast pace and evolving priorities.
Compensation
The base salary for this role is $126,000 per year for a 3-year term, with location adjustments applied as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
You own the assessment and evolution of onX's total rewards portfolio, ensuring our overall investment in employees remains competitive, equitable, and aligned with the needs of a growing workforce. This involves partnering with People and Culture leadership to translate total rewards philosophy into scalable programs, practical decision-making frameworks, and employee experiences that are easy to understand and navigate. You will use data, market insights, employee feedback, and AI-enabled analysis to identify opportunities, surface risks, and inform recommendations that strengthen attraction, retention, and employee experience. Clear communications, resources, and decision-making tools will be developed to help employees, managers, and leaders navigate Total Rewards programs.
You will own compensation benchmarking, job architecture, leveling, pay bands, compensation review cycles, and market positioning, ensuring consistent and equitable compensation practices across the organization. Serving as a trusted advisor, you will partner with Finance, Recruiting, Hiring Managers, and People Business Partners on offers, leveling, market positioning, retention, workforce planning, and role design.
You will lead the evaluation and evolution of onX's benefits and wellness programs, managing vendor relationships and building business cases that balance employee needs, market competitiveness, and cost-effectiveness. You will provide guidance on complex employee support matters, including leave administration and benefits escalations, navigating these situations with strong judgment and empathy. This includes navigating leave administration and sensitive employee situations with empathy and sound judgment. You will partner with Finance, Recruiting, and Hiring Managers to refine role design and market positioning.
You will analyze total rewards portfolios using data and AI tools, then communicate insights to leaders and partners. You will modernize employee experiences by building clear tools, decisions, and resources for easy navigation. You will evaluate vendor relationships and build business cases for benefits, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Requirements
You must have three to five years managing rewards or related work in tech. You must handle compensation benchmarking, pay bands, and leveling with accuracy. You must use data, market insights, and AI responsibly to inform recommendations. You must navigate ambiguity while maintaining operational rigor and consistency.
Nice to Have
Experience in outdoor, recreation, or adventure sectors is preferred.
Skills and Tools
Familiarity with onX proprietary products, AI tools, compensation platforms, and benefits systems is essential.
