Key Responsibilities
The Director of Total Rewards supports the Board Compensation Committee in critical activities. This includes preparing materials for meetings and discussions. The role involves peer group benchmarking and market data analysis. The director contributes to drafting Compensation Discussion & Analysis for Named Executive Officers.
This position assists in designing and administering long-term incentive compensation programs. Programs may include Restricted Stock Units, stock options, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. The role coordinates 409A compliance and cap table management. This work requires close partnership with Legal and Finance teams.
The director designs incentive and variable pay structures for a unique workforce. The workforce is multistate, deskless, and experiences high turnover. Variable-hour schedules are common. Designing these structures requires strict adherence to FLSA Regular Rate of Pay compliance. The role oversees overtime regulations and timekeeping practices across multiple states.

This ensures comprehensive coverage, cost control, and a positive employee experience.
Analyzing compensation data and market benchmarks is a core function. This analysis supports pay decisions and equity adjustments. The director prepares presentations for the Board Compensation Committee. These presentations translate complex compensation topics into clear recommendations.
The director steers total rewards programs for deskless, multistate teams. Programs must integrate learning, growth, and recognition initiatives. Collaboration with People Operations is required. This partnership drives onboarding, mobility, and retention programs. These programs must reinforce the company culture and performance standards.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Equivalent practical experience is also acceptable. The role requires over thirteen years of total rewards leadership experience. Candidates must have led large organizations with more than ten thousand employees.
Deep experience in IPO or public company compensation planning is mandatory. The director must understand regulations for hourly, variable-hour, and deskless workforces. Proven success in retail or brick-and-mortar settings is required. The ideal candidate has managed high-volume frontline teams.
